What if we dedicated this Friday to watches we rarely see?

 By: amanico : July 21st, 2011-14:01
Here is my suggestion of the day: A watch I got in the US, thanks to the help of a good friend. Wittnauer Electro Chron. It is up to you, guys. HAGWE. Nicolas....

Really funny, Nicolas, as ...

 By: anaesdoc : July 21st, 2011-14:23
well-known Bimbeano posted this last Friday : wristscan.watchprosite.com So, this is the second time within two weeks that I see a watch I´ve never seen before! You do not mean to post pics of those watches we rarely wear, but watches that are rarely seen...

Let's say that I'm somewhat guilty when it comes to Bimbeano's Witt.

 By: amanico : July 21st, 2011-14:27
We'll try to take a Duo pic of our Beauties. But I think that there are at least two other happy fellows who also own it. It would be fun to see 4 of these same watches in a F.W on the same site, don't you think? Only the Purists can do that. Best, Nicola...

I'm sorry but I don't have, on hand, any rare bird

 By: nilomis : July 21st, 2011-14:38
Nicolas, My "not so rare" birds are on the "SPA". Wonderful Wittnauer Electro Chron "bird". It's rare to see one on this conditions. Vlad is wearing a quartz watch? The world will end sooner than 2012! Here are the watches for the week: The two more preci...

I don't trust the Incas, on this matter, Nilo. :)

 By: amanico : July 21st, 2011-14:42
In fact, I have two " Electric " watches... A lovely Swatch, with a stretch aluminium and rubber bracelet, which is a Chronograph, and this Witt... Boith being not comparable, of course, the Witt being more complex than a simple quartz watch, with its bal...

Nicolas, i think you need an Accutron in your collection

 By: G99 : July 22nd, 2011-11:33
as they have such historical significance in Horology and even space travel. funnily enough i know where there is a lovely and original Spaceview that would look good on your wrist i love the hands od the Wittnauer, but i dont know if i want another batte...

Why not the Accutron Astronaut?

 By: nilomis : July 22nd, 2011-12:07
It "humms" like a bee and adds the GMT complication. Someday I "capture" my daughter Bulova set and post here. There are some interesting watches there. Cheers

i had 40 tuning forks...

 By: G99 : July 22nd, 2011-12:13
i had 40 tuning forks at one time Nilo including 3 versions of the Astronaut, but all i have left now are 2. a 1960 14kt Alpha and a 1972 original spaceview. the astronaut is great, but very overpriced. G

Love my Astronault

this one, the cities are very interesting IMHO. How many of them have you visited? Best to all, Tim This message has been edited by timerider on 2011-07-21 15:08:00...

Never seen, Tim. Wow!

 By: amanico : July 21st, 2011-22:12
You know my love for WT watches. Is this one a true one, or one like the JLC Memo International? Best, Nicolas.

Hi Nicolas, the "cities" disc rotates in sync with

 By: timerider : July 22nd, 2011-13:40
local time once set, no recalculating required. It also has water resistance to 50M and comes with spare parts! The big manufactures could take a lesson on both fronts. This was a cool idea, lots of very interesting watches this week. Best to all, Tim

Interesting concept, Tim. If only it didn't have the date...

 By: amanico : July 22nd, 2011-14:26
Funny how I hate the Date on a watch... Most of the btime, it ruins the beauty, the purity of a dial. Interesting watch, Tim. Will try to see one in the flesh. Thanks for the explanation. Nicolas.

good looking watch

The seconds hand is actually coated with a secret lacquer

Tahiti and the Azores are more a state of mind, as

An uncommon vintage ...

 By: AndrewD : July 21st, 2011-16:43
... but one I love for its proportions and legibility. And its quite photogenic as well. Minerva Triple Date Moonphase Chronograph, (Valjoux Cal. 730), 21600vph, 17 jewel, PR 44h, steel, 36x13mm....

I'm spending more and more time on Vintage Minervas, Andrew.

 By: amanico : July 21st, 2011-23:07
I was puzzled by Mr Brossard's one. One of my targets ( the watch, not the watchmaker ), but they are pretty hard to find. Best, and thanks for sharing this beauty, my friend. Nicolas.

Andrew, this is the kind of complications i like :-)

I thought you may have made a deal with the devil...

I didn't know you'd met my wife?!

 By: amanico : July 21st, 2011-23:11

The modern version has the same effect, Nicolas, as . . .

 By: Dr No : July 23rd, 2011-13:33
. . . its massive proportions . . . . . . evaporate on the wrist. I attribute this to the asymmetric shape with a blend of obtuse angles and parallel edges in conjunction with the unique plinth and turret construction. It's so odd that it "works", even on...

Agree with you Art
