(new model) The 1815 Up&Down "Walter Lange" limited edition

Jun 18, 2007,14:06 PM

Dear enthusiasts and Lange fans,

it is with great pleasure to share some brand hot input by A. Lange & Söhne.
A special piece occasionally spotted earlier caused some rumours and sighting news, but so far there´s not been official communication on it. And you will see, it´s quite something!

Without further ado, the limited edition "Walter Lange" 1815 Auf&Ab:

This special edition apparently marks the last production pieces of the now discontinued "1815" range, which already would be sufficient to make these watches stand out.
But in order to honour Walter Lange, it needs a bit more and Lange went ahead; keeping up with the special interest of Walter Lange in historic pocket watches, these rare watches are fitted with hinged backs. This case style is not available for any regular production model by Lange and certainly adds an nostalgic touch.
The commemorative background is underlined by a dedicated engraving inside the back, representing the signature of Walter Lange.

The edition run of 150 pieces in total is created for US-based authorized dealers of A. Lange & Söhne only; an exclusive offering and without doubt a rare chance to add a very special watch to your collection.

And one that honours an almost iconic bearer of a great name in watchmaking, who happens to be an impressive, experienced, interesting and most friendly person at the same time. The brand of A. Lange & Söhne and particularly the DNA presented by an unique portfolio today hardly would exist without the decades-long efforts of Walter Lange and i´m sure especially those enthusiasts who had the luck to meet Mr. Lange in person will agree in that wearing a watch with his name on it is a special treat.

(Walter Lange, May 2007, Geneva)

With thanks to A. Lange & Söhne!

Greetings from Germany,

Peter

Peter, the pictures included in your post don't do the watch justice. I'd suggest anyone interested check out the pictures posted some time ago by Clublon on [another] forum. A truely stunning watch. This message has been edited by PeterCDE on 2007-06-18 ...

Agree!

PS: Are we going to see a hinged back as a regular model by Lange?

With the "Walter Lange" as above and the "Cuvette" in late 2006, a little speculation was raised whether or not these two limited editions featuring a hinged back may be accompanied by a regular model of A. Lange & Söhne. Admittedly i was slightly surpris...

Thanks for the great post

Excellent post, Peter. It really gives some insight into just how difficult it is to produce one of these LE half-hunter cased pieces.

Thanks Peter ...
