Interesting SIHH 2007 Cartier: Rotonde de Cartier à grande complication from Collection Privée
Mar 22, 2007,07:23 AM
From the top end Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP) comes the Rotonde de Cartier à grande complication.
I've always liked the aesthetics of the CPCP and respected the quality. One of my favourites from this range is the Pasha tourbillon, using a GP Three Gold Bridges movement, and now sadly discontinued. Below are the two variations of the Pasha tourbillon, and both use the Three Gold Bridges movement as a base. The CPCP collection all possess quite outstanding finishing, a world away from les Must de Cartier goldplated lighters and pens.

The mass market Cartier products overshadow the high end, high quality pieces. Like the Cartier high jewellery range made in their Paris workshop (average price of a piece is EUR250,000), the CPCP is little know and under appreciated IMHO.

SJX, Don't go on to tell everybody about Cartier CPCP watches; it's meant to be a secret pleasure for discerning collectors Louis Cartier (1875-1942) is credited with creating the first man's wristwatch in 1904 for his Brazilian friend and client, aviator...

Hi Melvyn, SJX, Cartier is my first love in watches and I must confess that while they are obviously known for their mainstream products, it's always a pleasure to show another WIS how Cartier can be on the top choice of watch brands and to what extent Ca...
I'm going to start a rumour about Cartier and FP Journe

but NOBODY must remember where they heard it But first, I must confess that I did not know about any alleged link between FPJ and Cartier for the Cartier Tortue Chrono Monopoussoir.......but that may be why Mrs MTF will wear the FPJ chronographe too. Back...
GP should keep it to themselves
By: vlkcheng : March 23rd, 2007-00:35
I agree the watches look stunning. I really can't understand why GP doesn't keep the movements to themselves to make them more exclusive especially something like the 3-gold bridges which is so special and such a signature to GP.
GP has supplied the Three Gold Bridges to other companies
By: SJX : March 23rd, 2007-01:50
Including Panerai (gasp!). That being said GP has selected its partners very carefully, and the use of the Three Gold Bridges in other watches have had no impact on the iconic status or desirability of the GP. I personally think the decision to supply is ...
This one is not a GP movement

G'day, current Cartier tourbillons are not supplied by GP; if recalling correctly, the "Pasha" tourbillon was the last to be a GP movement. Cheers, Peter

Turtue chronograph monopusher and Rondo day an night are from THA and Tortue perpetual is Jaeger based. The Tortue repeater is the best sounding repeater I ever heard. There is a strange thing about Cartier as "collector's brand". Everyone I have spoken t...
