Agree - a complete misinterpretation of non-japanese aesthetics makes it grotesque

Just too beautiful to NOT to let you guys know.... Credor GCLP989

Credor Limited Edition "Sakura Fubuki" or "Cherry Blossom falling in the moon light". LE of 120, JPY1,000,000 + tax. Most likely only in Japan? They should stop that, though.... So beautiful..... The dial is Urushi with Raden (MOP sliced and put onto the ...

Beautiful watch IMO

...but unfortunately a bit small for my taste : (

What's different versus GCLP991?

Minor color changes won't count IMHO

I’m sorry Ken but I’m not convinced at all by this Credor. The date, the power reserve indicator, this forlorn star, the length of the indexes, the colours used... Everything here sounds wrong for me.

Maybe it’s a question of pictures and a “real” one would change my mind but for the moment I say no. I’m disappointed 😕 Best wishes Alkiro

+1

Although I feel the general design elements might work - how about the PR indicator on the back, with a big date top center and a small seconds bottom center? Basically an iteration of the iwc portofino big date? J

It's okay to disagree or not to understand, but "grotesque" is a bit harsh word...

But "grotesque" is a bit harsh word. Same thing can be said for everything. Some may look grotesque to us, which you perceive beautiful. Let's not be self-centered. This is a forum people from all around the world participate with totally different sense ...

alkiro, I cannot claim to know what is in the head of the Credor designer. But I have absorbed some "feelings" of Japanese motifs over 30 years working with Japanese or living amongst them. There is a Silver River that represents the Milky Way and other g...

Thank you Melvyn for all your explanations and feeling about this timepiece

I think the two pictures doesn’t enhance this timepiece. Nevertheless, I stay sceptical about this watch. Best wishes Alkiro

Fabulous :)

I have to say the watches keep getting more and more interesting and I am highly curious to read your full report in due course (as an owner, I am sure )!

Ken, Thanks for showing this Japan Only watch. Are the hour markers of this watch also made of raden? I like urushi techniques from Japan and have a few pieces...even non-horology items. Mount Fuji I am reminded of many hours of bliss in a hot spring watc...

All these words and images fit perfectly together and are summarized non-verbally by that dial

I suggest this should be included in the box with the Watch — or at least brought to Credor management attention. Ken? MTF ... thank you for this interpretation. Cazalea

Thanks for sharing Ken.

This Credor seems to be a small evolution of GCLP991, especially concerning the dial. GCLP991 was available in 2016 in many Seiko Boutique (France, US, Taiwan, ...) ...

Interesting to see how different the perception is! Credor GCLP991 in 2016, GCLP989 in 2018

 By: KIH : January 10th, 2018-19:52
Yes, in 2016, Credor made the first "Raden" dial Springdrive, LE of 100. I assume Credor came back with another one this year and a bit larger LE volume (120, this time at the same price) because the first one went pretty well. Not sure whether the new on...
