Piaget in 2010

Dec 27, 2009,20:57 PM

The major thing I expect from now on is a simple see through back on all mechanical watches.
It's the very first thing I'm asking Piaget.
Do you agree?

What should we expect from PIAGET in 2010?

 By: MTF : December 20th, 2009-17:25
It's been a tough year for the world in 2009 and things were muted at SIHH and Basel. Now, there is a little ray of hope and the gloom-makers are being trampled by optimism. So, in that cheery spirit, what do YOU think Piaget should present for 2010? Woul...

Simple & Practical Elegance

What about introducing a simple round manual winding timepiece with clous de Paris edging. How about subsidiary seconds and power reserve indicator? How about a lug-less case seemingly resting upon an alligator strap? How about a jewel on the hands pinion...

Even now, the Swiss elves

at Piaget are making notes; you may get some of your wishes....... MTF

Polo FortyFive in precious metal cases

 By: dxboon : December 20th, 2009-18:31
In keeping with Piaget's luxe image perhaps we'll see the FortyFive encased in something other than titanium. I'd also love to see the Upstream brought back, as we have previously discussed. Cheers, Daos

Agreed

Would love to see a WG and PT version.

:-) WG would be very cool IMO! [nt]

Really? Platinum in a FortyFive

 By: MTF : December 27th, 2009-01:27
would be a tad heavy. It would fit because of the curved caseback but quite a chunk of metal Some people like platinum........e.g. bluenotte Regards, MTF

You and me.....both. (nt)

Chronos

I would expect to see that inhouse chrono movement make it into more models, probably in the more traditional product lines.... A

Something like this?

i really admire the limelight twice even though its for the ladies, i wonder what Piaget's idea for a man's version could be cheers, Ed~

Even now, Piaget is taking a poll in Indonesia and Thailand

to find out the marketing possibilities. It used to be done in Dubai but they are a little strapped for cash right now. MTF

I'd expect Piaget to release a steel or precious metal Polo FortyFive chrono

 By: AnthonyTsai : December 21st, 2009-21:56
or perhaps maybe even a black ceramic Polo FortyFive. An Emperor Coussin large moon w/ big date? Cheers, Anthony

Just a cooler Polo Forty Five Chrono

 By: Jester : December 22nd, 2009-10:18
w/ interesting material/dial construction!!!

It used to be only "precious" metal for Piaget

 By: MTF : December 27th, 2009-01:34
but since Titanium is now precious, I'm holding out for tantalum to match my other tantalum chronograph. Regards, MTF

I would like to see the automatic chronograph caliber...

 By: foversta : December 25th, 2009-10:40
...in another context than in the Polo collection. This caliber is one of the most interesting chronograph movement of the industry. Seeing it in a "more dressed" watch would please me a lot. Fr.Xavier

If they do...it must be more than 30 minutes

 By: MTF : December 27th, 2009-01:36
chronograph. In this day and age, at least 12h counter seems necessary for parking charges, lets say! Regards, MTF

I guess a major focus might still be extensions of the Polo line...

 By: Z3 : December 25th, 2009-21:51
... at least in the near future. They've got an attractive and iconic case, so they might do different variations of functions... Guess we will find out in 3 weeks time=) Jon (Z3)

2009 was Piaget Polo 30th anniversary

 By: MTF : December 28th, 2009-18:11
so we await 2010 with eagerness...... Regards, MTF

Yes I agree! It would be a shame to hide all these beautifully finished movements

 By: Z3 : December 28th, 2009-18:13
They are already doing a lot of it on the new Polos. Adds more fun to their watches for sure. Jon

Torn either way...

 By: MTF : December 28th, 2009-18:25
Thanks for your question. It is a difficult balance for Piaget. On one hand, they have the founder's Calvinistic traits of reserved modesty, not wanting to "boast" as that is a sin in their religious beliefs. On the other hand, Piaget is now dragged into ...
