Sometimes less is more

I at once owned a 5711/1A, a 5712/1A and a 5980/1A, ultimately selling the last two and keeping only the 5711/1A.  I am probably in the minority on this forum in preferring the simplicity of the 5711/1A to the complications of the 5712/1A and 5980/1A.  I believe that what distinguishes the 5711/1A from the other incarnations of the Nautilus, however, is the melding of the horizontal lines of the links of the steel bracelet with the horizontal lines of the cushion dial, resulting in one uninterrupted, seamless piece.  it's a matter of personal preference, of course, but even after four years of owning my 5711/1A, I have never tired of admiring its elegance.

After a few years away from patek. I am back with what is the most comfortable watch I have ever worn. The colour changes on the dial in different light is amazing. Very content with my choice.

it is a great dial

neither the Patek website nor the catalogue do it justice - i've seen some decent wrist shots so maybe there's a duty on you to supplement with further wrist shots

I cannot agree more. I sold my 5711 in 2009 for a 5712. I then got a 5980 and then 5167A and, suprise suprise, I ordered a 5711 (again) which should arrive before Christmas. After all 5711 is the best daily wear and I will keep her that way for many years...

i opted for the 5711 over the 5980 earlier this year. in a perfect world i would have both but im more than happy with the 5711 at this stage. The only thing i had to do was get the one and half link added to the bracelet to ensure perfect comfort. regard...

I was caught between 5711 and 5712 few years ago

Due to the cleaner and brighter dial on the 5711, you can tell which is more outstanding when you standing 5-8 feet away. Without hesitation i choose 5711.

Got a photo.

Managed to figure out how to post a photo. You would need 200 photos to see all the different colours in different light conditions....

love it

a real sport watch (waterproof) that is also thin and elegant enough to go under a shirt sleeve. the ohter choice is 5712 but is not waterproof. But both of them are magic.

ive taken the same photo!

For the jumbo size, the thin case, the simple dial, and the elegant bracelet.
