Yesterday and today, I was meant to be in Scotland for a wonderful exhibition of perpetual calendar watches.....vintage and modern. Regrettably, and for only the 2nd time in my life, i suffered food poisoining and have been totally wiped out. I missed an ...

Hope you will feel better soon

Yes that 570 in wg is quite stunning There are few yg models around tempting me Julian

Temptations are good to give in to....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-03:36
.....unless it happens to be a chicken curry, it seems.

you know....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-03:38
.....it would make a fabulous post to compile a Master Collection......with the very best of each genre represented just once. So, for example, in the Time Only category one might put the570. In the WT, one could (arguably..LoL) put the 5131 or 5110 (stil...

thanks H.......

Thanks P....

.....the condition of this one was a very big factor.

2nd time for me....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-05:08
......not so bad over a lifetime....but oh boy, it wiped me out!!

I can totally relate to food poisoning

 By: sham1 : May 17th, 2017-06:05
as I seem to be a magnet whenever there is a chance of that happening. Hope you feel a lot better soon and drink lots of water an energy drinks to replenish the lost salt! Take care Joe. PS Sorry but when it comes to health, I tend to forget about watches...

2nd time for me.....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-06:15
.....the first time was after i took my Finals exams and was partying in Spain. French onion soup did for me...nearly killed me. Then a long gap until second time....chicken curry this time.

I love chicken curry but now I learned from you:

 By: dr.kol : May 17th, 2017-06:52
Be careful with vintage Patek as well as chicken curry. Even both are great. Best, Kari

oddly....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-06:58
.....for 3 decades now I have never been able to drink french onion soup. I will miss chicken curry if the same "fear" occurs.

One never expects to get food poisoning

 By: sham1 : May 17th, 2017-06:55
but when it does strike, it is amazing how helpless it renders one. My worst attack was 20 years ago and a dentist who was doing a rare filling on my teeth 'accidentally' dropped the drill in my mouth cutting the area where my tongue laid. It was a bloodb...

Now that sounds a lot worse than mine....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-06:57
......i have stayed fairly close to the necessary locations in my house, and am on the mend now....but that sounds truly horrifying.

Needles to say

 By: sham1 : May 18th, 2017-00:15
I have a permanent phobia of dentists, even the pretty ones!

i would say you had blood poisoning rather than food poisoning....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 18th, 2017-00:24
....much more serious. Even with food poisoning..... i havent easten French onion soup for 30 years

Have some chicken soup and get well :)

 By: keks : May 17th, 2017-08:12
they joy of admiring a piece on the wrist being one and being part of a likeminded community another. Your 570 is amazing in a lot of ways. Historical and an important piece in Patek history. Hope you get better soon and really sorry to hear you missed th...

Thanks Keks...

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-08:16
......good words and thoughts. Yes, I was really sad to miss Scotland. I had been looking forward to that for ages.

Beautiful photos of a wonderful watch.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : May 17th, 2017-09:08
Get better soon, my friend.

Thanks Z.

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-09:09
But I tell you, I can't look at a chicken in the same way again.

I feel your pain.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : May 17th, 2017-15:08
But, you will be OK, and back to normal soon. Hey, at least you don't have to diet for the beach bod, right?

It was specifically about Perpetual Calendar ...ancient and modern.

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-09:36
.....I don't think I will get another opportunity like this one. What will be.....

Hummm, never say never ;-)

So solid. A watch that could be worn every day for a lifetime.

 By: vitalsigns : May 17th, 2017-10:00
Nothing overly fancy. Nothing overly precious. Nothing pretentious. A high-end, under-the-radar time-only watch, the subtle luxury qualities of which are hidden behind a solid caseback. Cheers, John

exactly.....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 17th, 2017-10:26
....and a watch that gives pleasure every single time one looks at it Many thanks

Being ill slows you down but gives you more time for other things ... like this 570

By: COUNT DE MONET : May 17th, 2017-10:43

 By: Millhoose : May 18th, 2017-08:30
Looks like you were under the weather in more ways than one! Scottish weather somewhat pleasant in contrast.

That's always a pleasure to see those pieces of yours

By: Mark in Paris : May 18th, 2017-12:51
Those watches are quite rare, especially since we are more used to seeing modern references. The way you positively share and present them, without comparing and ranking with others or to the modern era, is very pleasant. I must say that I'm also looking ...

Thanks Mark.....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 19th, 2017-02:57
......i am trying very hard to maintain a bias towards not comparing. We have discussed so many times how tastes and approach can noty only change over time but within ourselves too. So yes, when I see a post making a comparison, I am always quite careful...

I'm a little late to the party here.

 By: TheMadDruid : May 19th, 2017-17:17
Although, it couldn't have been much of a party if the fish sticks got the best of you. Anyway, and although I've seen other posts of this watch by you, seeing it again and when you're feeling lousy, it tells me just how special you find it. Makes me wann...

of all the Calatravas.....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 19th, 2017-23:56
