I would call it "semi-white whale"

Hi Nicholas,
I would rather call it "semi-white whale" because only the dial is uncommon. Its believed that this dial was some sort of "trial" or you may call it "prototype dial"... but besides this dial the rest was more like the common 2777.
It missed the most important part in the movement which would make it a complete "white whale": its the swan neck regulator on a cal. 283 which sets the Railmaster prototypes apart from the more common regular 2777-1 which were used by the UK pilots.
A real "white whale" must have both, the white dial and the swan neck regulator and must have the "civilian" case 2777-2 with removeable spring bars contrary to the 2777-1 which had fixed bars.
I guess you don´t own my book about the 30mm chronometres yet, do you? I have dedicated a whole chapter to these uncommon watches... and I am the lucky owner of a white and black whale.
