Duomètre - PART IV - " THIS IS THE END " - My feelings following the official launch - JLC master of recycling.

 By: Alfihar : April 9th, 2024-13:43
RUMORS, OFFICIAL TEASERS AND REALITY The rumors were that there would be a Duomètre (Chronograph + Moonphase), in steel with a white dial and in platinum with a salmon dial. I added that, knowing the House that dreams of being Grande, there would be a “ O...

With so much time to think

 By: SayNo2Babies : April 9th, 2024-14:16
and so many personal hopes for the model, maybe it was impossible for JLC to release something that wouldn't have disappointed you. I need to sit with them before any final conclusions, but I do like the new case shape, and the crown works congruently for...

I agree and not ...

There's no doubt that love and passion make you more demanding, and that long waits are a source of idealization... However, that's not knowing me well: I never have any preconceived ideas in life, but I always say what I think, good or bad. If something ...

Incredible write-up, Nico... merci beaucoup!

Please ask the people at JLC to place a Heliotourbillon on hold for me😘

;)

The successor 😂

The steel/blue is beautiful...

 By: mdg : April 9th, 2024-16:18
...as for moon phase, the old version looks like it uses the silk-screen moon from the Reverso, which is inelegant. The metal disc is simpler but more elegant.

I agree for the silk screen... Maybe cheaper than a metal disc but it's personal, I prefer it because it's more poetic.

 By: Alfihar : April 10th, 2024-10:59
And this blue is not the one I prefer (I mean the color) ... ...

As someone who has spent a lifetime printing various things...

 By: mdg : April 10th, 2024-21:43
...the large dots on the moonphase print remind me of bargain printing...essentially newspaper quality...

Yes… regarding the quality

 By: Alfihar : April 16th, 2024-05:32
And no (for me) in terms of poetry And if we consider the watch as a whole... the first version of the Duometre is less cold, less clinical, even though the new domed sapphire brings more softness to the line... ...

Very nice watches!

 By: patrick_y : April 9th, 2024-17:58
I agree with you on the crown - it might not be a good fit for the case. While there's nothing extremely groundbreaking here, I'd say that JLC did a good job - the case is beautiful and a perfect combination of strong German design and a more delicate rou...

You were so ready to hate the new Duometre that you almost look disappointed you didn't ;-) I personally love them

 By: Clavi : April 9th, 2024-17:59
I do find the new Duometre offering attractive and a nice re-take on the double barrel complication movement. The one-line one-case motto isn't exactly a secular tradition. In fact most movement lines historically have had different cases to fit the style...

Thanks

 By: Alfihar : April 10th, 2024-11:08
I also like the shape of the case... It's its re-use for a new duometer that bothers me. As for the rest, I've said what I think... and I understand that others have a different point of view - fortunately. It's a shame because there's some interesting st...

Thanks for the amazing write up my friend and the free education.

I fear that your observations will prove accurate with the passage of time and as more info will become available

Thank you for your amazing and well thought out insight and information following this years DUO release from JLC

 By: doubleup : April 9th, 2024-22:51
It is forever carved in the pages of history and so is the price in my head. WOW. inflation really gets ya!=) All kidding aside thank you for the time you've invested in this, Ben

My pleasure.

 By: Alfihar : April 10th, 2024-11:13
The price is due to the "golden number" slogan, which is not an exclusive Jaeger LeCoultre copiryght... It must have been registered by the entire watchmaking industry... #thegreatwatchmakingconspiracy

excellent post but the new case is much nicer and the DUOMETRE QUANTIEME LUNAIRE in steel

 By: christianch : April 9th, 2024-23:41
is actually priced right I believe. The older case was too geometric and heavy (at least with my experience with the Duometre dual time, now no longer in my collection). The truth is that this line was always perfect so I applaud an incremental change: im...

Well

 By: Alfihar : April 16th, 2024-05:46
I’ve always loved the master grande tradition case… but it’s not a new case nor a specific duometre case so… I’m disappointed Don’t like the crown… which - even if my point of view is subjective - doesn't go well with the box's design.... It looks more li...

I think that is good that such an important line as Duometre

 By: christianch : April 16th, 2024-08:23
has an incremental change and not radical one. For me the gold one was a bit bulky so I do look forward to try the steel.

Exactly

 By: EinPa : April 10th, 2024-07:34
This is why I didn’t buy the earlier as much as I loved it. If repair and services experiences with Reverso were an indication, I cannot imagine the cost and time for this one when my kids send it in 40 years from now.

In 40 years… don’t know

 By: Alfihar : April 16th, 2024-07:23
Today it’s €1800 and 2 months

You should not worry too much about it.

 By: Artoxares : April 10th, 2024-08:23
I sent my Duometre à chronographe for service a couple years ago. The watch went to Swizerland and the all operation took approx 2 months. On a different note, I was lucky enough to try the new Duometre à chronographe yesterday (rose gold version) and was...

Agree but

 By: Alfihar : April 16th, 2024-07:06
The case is cool but not new The more open dial with the doomed sapphire is nice but with the longer lugs… the watch looks really bigger… And the crown… the crown…

I can understand but…

 By: Alfihar : April 16th, 2024-05:50
A service costs €1,800 - which isn't that much considering the complexity of the movement and the number of parts (it's the price of a service for a much less complicated PP 5110) and it took me 2/3 months following the incident I suffered, which is reaso...

Excellent work sir

 By: EinPa : April 10th, 2024-07:30
To summarize: JLC’s golden years are behind them and they have become experts in reminding one of that.

Thanks

Unfortunately true for the golden years…. Best Ø

At last my friends, im back into my account

 By: Sebi : April 10th, 2024-17:52
took me weeks to figure which email was linked to the account... Thank you for that excellent series of posts. Indeed the new Duomètres are everything we knew they'd be. One question that is bugging me at the highest level is.... if it comes with a pouch ...

What an incredible write-up!

 By: KMII : April 10th, 2024-18:55
I agree with many points you are making but still find it a good move to return the Duometre to the catalogue, as it adds something unique to the brand 😊👍🏻

Yes… the return is cool

 By: Alfihar : April 16th, 2024-06:50
The way they moon…. Less interesting Best Ø

Thanks dear O! I finally took time to read your long post!

 By: eklektik : April 11th, 2024-18:35
I agree with most of it when it is about dials, hands and crown. It is very hard to beat the original Chronograph which is in essence the ultimate Duomètre in my eyes. On the case, it looks a bit slimmer but I am surprised by how much the glass actually p...

My pleasure

 By: Alfihar : April 16th, 2024-06:00
I like the master grande tradition case but not on the Duometre line… The new doomed saphir case is nice but the dial is so more opened and with longer lugs the watch looks really big As for the rest, I've already said what I had to say.... Best Ø ...
