OK, you did bring up Buicks, so don't blame me for more stories

My Grandmother had a Buick Skylark - a pretty cool car for a 60-year old woman. It looked just like this - I don't think I have actual photos of that car because I was only 14-15 and had no camera.

Sometime around the Olds 442 (previous post) I also bought a Buick Riviera. It was in the late Eighties and this car about about 20 years old. But they never aged. The finest looking Gentleman's Express in my opinion.

It was a very classy ride and in very nice condition except a slight mismatch on the front end paint. I can't even remember any other details.

There's a For Sale sign in the window so this must have been when I sold the car.

Then I migrated over to a 1987 Buick Regal T-Type Turbo.

This is the most expensive car I've purchased without asking for my wife's permission.

This was a monster with 3.8L V6, intercooler, about 330 hp and tons of torque - at that time the quickest car in the world. No kidding, look it up.

I was doing some work with Buick at the time, and the PR lady offered me a deal on a car from Buick's press fleet. The only catch was she needed a certified check in 3 days and I couldn't organize it in time.

So I found a great deal on a year-old car, drove it like a maniac for 2-3 years and the day after I got my first-ever speeding ticket, I sold the car.

Then my grandpa died and I inheirited a Buick Electra 225 4-door sedan. But the deal involved me flying back to Iowa and driving the car home laden with stuff my mother and my aunt wanted to keep. I drove it for a couple years and gave it to my father-in-law, who then gave it to my brother-in-law who had fallen on hard times. I think he even lived in it briefly, then the car disappeared.

Next Buick was another Electra 225 -- this time a convertible. I raised my hand just once at a car auction and Voilà, the car was hammered down to me. This was quite a nice car. Again I had it for several years, then gave it to the same Father-In-Law, who burdened me with guilt about having to give up his red Buick convertible when his wife got pregnant with my wife ...

Luckily I refrained from buying this Buick Riviera which was also on auction. I think it sold for $350 but you had to take it home that day... and luckily I did not have a trailer with me.

The last Buick I remember owning was a Riviera Convertible, a rare beast "converted" by ASC sunroofs in the Detroit area, along with some Cadillac Eldorados. I have absolutely no recollection of where I bought the car, or to whom I sold it... but I do know this picture was taken at a go-karting track. The deluxe chrome road wheels, V8 and front wheel drive no doubt made if a fine cruiser to the country club.

George, thanks for making me dig into the old car photo boxes.

Cheers,

Cazalea aka Mr Buick

PS — I forgot this Buick Century T-Type V6 with leather sports seats - quite possibly the worst, most uncomfortable seats ever fitted to a vehicle!

the buick 1963-1966 buick Riviera was one of the biggest Buick's successes, whether powered in its first years with 401 ci nailhead engine(63-64) and later with the 425ci engine (65-66), it was also available in a GS Version

The Riviera GS had firmer shocks with bigger stabilizing bars and better brakes. Despite its weight the car was quick and was a strong seller in the luxury personal car market back then and now a loved collectible. Your electra 225 convertible is a 1968 ...
