Since we never talk about Rolex...

May 15, 2007,05:59 AM

I thought we could do with some pictures of uncommon Rolex watches...

Daytona "Paul Newman"

Explorer 2 "Freccione"

Milgauss (third series)

Sea-Dweller "Double Red"

Finally, the most valuable and possibly the rarest of the lot, the Sea-Dweller COMEX, 1997 series.

All watches are property of a gentleman. Not me. :-(

Nice watches, I was looking at the 2007 submariners at a jeweller's in Chester (UK) and I was very disappointed. I thought the workmanship was not up to scratch especially when you compare your photographs and older watches.

Actually Rolex scores well in several aspects

Most notably the dial work and case finish. The quality and consistent of the finish on the dial and case is excellent, and not matched by the other large volume makers IMHO. - SJX

nice watches but the first isn't a Paul Newman

It should either be a ":regular" Ref. 6263 or 6265. The Newman models have different markers on the subdials. They are like little squares and you can see one at www.antiquorum.com Regards, Michael Friedberg

Thanks, Michael

I've always loved this Explorer I -- all substance, low bling:...

Yes, a very fine and attractive watch ...

if only the Roman Colosseum were larger and had a scoreboard, and if only Monticello were larger and had an attached garage!
