GP 1945 XXL Moonphase Sapphire Dial

Apr 19, 2017,05:47 AM

I was very excited when this watch came out about two years ago. To my surprise, it proved to be not much popular, and as a result I never came across it in person. It could be because GP distribution is not quite strong where I live, but perhaps the dislike for square/rectangular watches among many watch buyers also played a part. Anyway, I pulled the trigger and bought it online. Couldn't be happier with it. The curved case is extremely comfortable to wear, and the ice-blue sapphire dial is super cool. A dress watch like no other. Strongly recommend you to check it out if you can. Here are a few impromptu photos, much better ones are to be found at Blomman's posts on this site or at reviews featured on various blogs.

I used to find the xxl case too big but with this dial, it perfectly works. Huge congratulations. Nicolas

Thanks a lot Nico

It is a large watch indeed but not bulky. The curved case, short lugs and moderate thickness make for a tidy look and fit

Congratulations on this great piece!

I have only handled it once and both my wife and me liked it a lot. The curved case back, as you say, is very comfortable and the front quite exciting. Not the most legible but then again...

Thank you KM!

Legibility is less of a concern than it seems to be in static photos. In real life there is always some natural wrist movement involved when checking the time which solves the 'problem'. That is, of course, if you are not looking at it in complete darknes...

Big congratulations to this catch!

Well, it's a little forgotten treasure in my opinion. Like you, I wish you to see more of them on PuristS wrists. Best wishes Alkiro

Nice catch. I love the dial as well, very special design and innovation from GP. Congratulations...

In my book this is a winning version of the Vintage 1945! My dilemma is whether I go for the Blue or the Grey... Huge congratulation, please feel free to show many more shots of the beauty! Best Blomman

Thank you Blomman

The large date on GP watches awesome, and I find that it works better with white numerals against the black background. I have another GP with the same complication, but with black numerals against a white background. There it is easier to notice the heig...
