New JLC novelties

Jan 16, 2017,07:33 AM

There are some others on JLC's website, besides what Nico has posted (but I'm sure he will post soon with all relevant details and characteristic in-depth coverage).

Check out the master line...there is a retro-style Master Control, Geographique and Chrono (interestingly without any chronograph pushers, which I assume is a photoshop/rendering mistake on the part of JLC).

Also gray dial white gold Master pieces, and blue dial stainless steel pieces.

Lots of updates of existing models.

Really looking forward to Nicolas's reviews.

Cheers,
John

...

Looks great...thanks for that. Hands look black here, but blue on JLC's website.

I prefer black given the other blue accents.

I think it's just the lighting in the photo

The hands definitely look blue on the web site. Of course the rendering had no chrono pushers so who knows

This is nice.

Seems sector dials are \'in\' these days, but not going to complain

Blue dials...sector dials...very interesting!

Master Geo sector dial in SS... MUT small second blue dial... MUT RDM blue dial... Looking forward to seeing these! Best E.

The new Master Control Date with Sector Dial is great

but would have been oh so much better without a date calendar. I'm liking that JLC has gone all out on these Sector Dials with the Master line, but they need to make a time only version with high water resistance. And they need to revamp the movements wit...

Looking forward to your real world pictures

and your impressions.

+1...why, oh why a date on a sector dial?!?

Talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory... But I am very excited to see the non-date chrono. John

I like the new chronograph but...

I have to say I prefer the old one - and not just because I own it I just think the previous generation had an air of elegance and nicely straddled the line between classic and modern. The new ones are decidedly retro and just seem to be missing a bit of ...

Old master chrono was, as you say, a great blend of modern and classic.

Retro interpretations are always a bit more polarizing.

No date on the Master Chrono.

Nicolas, you're influencing an entire industry! M4

And a very poor choice of hands as well

 By: Clavi : January 16th, 2017-14:17
Those hands, taken from the 1940s calendar luminous dial version, make no sense whatsoever on a non-luminous sector dial. It just looks like mismatched hands, of which the luminous has fallen off. Quite a design faux pas from a purist perspective

To each his own.

I like the skeleton hands. The hands and dial are very clean imo. M4

To each is own indeed

But I am growing fed-up with the constant mismatching of elements from different watches from different eras under the pretent of hommages or anniversaries or commemorations, while the end result doesn't follow the basic, common-sense rules of functionnal...

will have to strongly agree here, even if functionality is an argument..

The date box totally ruined what would be a 10/10 daily piece for me!

I think the problem stems from the fact..

 By: Tiggermelad : January 17th, 2017-22:38
..that the watch is too big for the movement. If it was a mm or so smaller the date box would be just in the place of the 3 and the hour sector circle would be unbroken. That would work for me, but having the date box interrupt the hour sector is just clu...

www.jaeger-lecoultre.com I found some of the novelties/updates by scrolling through the collections. I don't believe that all of the novelties/updates are featured in any separate section of the website. Cheers, John

JLC made a good job

Finally the dials are full. Neither too much blank space, nor too many indications (result is a mess). The master control date wouldn't have been better in this way? (i made it with PAINT in 7 seconds) Sometimes, one mm makes a huge difference in the over...
