Tudor Submariner Black Bay Only Watch 2015 was auctioned for a top price.

Nov 07, 2015,10:40 AM

Yes, my friends, I wanted to warn you with this title.

Fasten your seat belt. Are you ready to read that?

... 350 000 CHF!

I am not sure I am shock resisting anymore, when reading that. wink

More seriously, this may be the most expensive Tudor auctioned, to this day.

It went over the estimation by... 100 Times.

Would I complain? Certainly not, because it is linked to a noble cause.

But surprising, it is.

Best,

Nicolas

What level of tenacity has to be there if you bid up to 350K CHF? Amazing!

Congratulations to the successful bidder. This piece has made already history. And just by the way: it is a very good looking watch, too. Thank you for the news. Best Moritz

price is relative at charity auctions

Nobody would ever pay that amount for that watch but a great benefactor wants to donate to charity... and gets a free watch hats off to this person!

simply asking: why not?

It is the only re-edition of an old Tudor design which is by the way a very nice one. Coming from the Rolex family makes it also quite appealing. As it was an auction at least two people thought the same in this instance and not about the other lots in th...

Good choice. ;) [nt]

Agree 100% [nt]

It went for 10X better ratio than SS PP ;)

Patek went for "only" 8.1 times more than biggest estimate while this Tudor went for 83.3 times more than biggest estimate Truly amazing! Best D

to be more precise

375000 CHF and in 3 minutes it was crazy

Well, in the mean time, I think that the result of such auction hasn't much to do

with the watches' intrinsic qualities and the estimations range prior to the auction are assessed, as always, in a very "unexpected" way, so I don't think it is a good information for ratio calculation either. I had a look at how the watches were sold on ...

True and I would be curious to know what motivated each of them

Would be an interesting study. Not really informative imho but interesting. Was it you?!

Clever. [nt]

Hope they like what these customers got Thanks for the feedback CH'.

To some extend true but an estimate of only 4.000 CHF ???

This was indeed a "greatly organized" event ( positive criticism here ). Best Moritz

Agreed. It was an honest estimate, close to the retail of a normal Black Bay.

 By: amanico : November 7th, 2015-15:57
They couldn't seriously estimate it at 50 K euros... Best, Nicolas

Exactly my point Moritz. [nt]

Wow this is amazing!

But I am very happy ! Both for the owner and the charity. The owner definitely has a big heart (and deep pockets). Cheers Robin

Nicely put, my friend. [nt]

Advertising?

 By: descartes1 : November 9th, 2015-13:06
I can't help but wonder if Tudor was the buyer. It's great advertising. After all, who wouldn't be willing now to spend $3,500 for a watch that someone paid $350,000 for?
