Met the new 42.3mm Fifty Fathoms

Mar 24, 2024,14:04 PM

Being invited by local BP Boutique to try on the new 5010 series of Fifty Fathoms, side by side with my Act III.

Some of my thoughts on this new regular line of FF:
1. The 42.3mm is much more wearable than the former 45mm one on small to medium wrist. Though itโ€™s still a bit thick with 14.3mm thickness.

2. The 1315 caliber with vintage inspired rotor, hacking second and 120hr power reserves is great.

3. The titanium bracelet is nice. Though it will be even better if the titanium deployant folding clasp is more refined +/- with micro adjustment.

4. The dial is beautiful (the colour matched date window is acceptable to me ๐Ÿ˜…), yet I am not particularly fancy with expanded sword hands. The straight hands in limited editions are better.

As I donโ€™t have a titanium sport watch with bracelet and no blue FF, now seriously thinking of the blue titanium novelty with bracelet ๐Ÿ˜Š

Cheers, Henry

The Act3 is as close as you can get without dabbling into vintage FF ...

and the new 5010 FF is a strong contender in the sports category. And the superb lug design makes its wearable for most of us. Will be keeping this in mind.

Thanks for sharing

I think 42mm is perfect for the 50 Fathoms, and I actually prefer the more pronounced sword hands, as it makes them look more special, whereas the thinner ones look kind of generic to me as if from one of my Breitlings. Would be great if they offered it i...

Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to trying it on

A sport model in Ti would be more than welcome in my collection... but it has to be really light and comfortable and with contained proportions, so let's see. Micro-adjustment in the bracelet would be more than welcome, even a must for me...

Not bad indeed!

Here is another option to consider, 40mm & steel. I don't know how easy it would be to find one, but for me it really works as the bracelet makes the watch wear a bit larger. I think the new models wear better on a strap (based on my act I which has the s...

I bought it ten years ago but had very little wrist time: it was too bulky and heavy. I don't think I will re-enter the brand; somehow, with all the swatch editions, it lost its appeal to me. Christian

Understand why you have this kind of feeling as I think after thes 15 years, the brand has changed the focus and know what collectors are loooking for, the Act III is one that can show the brand listened to the collector's voices, No Date, No Polished Bin...
