Indeed the Deluca is very undervalued but perhaps that is due to the fact that very few people care about Zenith and even know about it so better for us

I have the Deluca predecessor that I bought 2 years ago for 4400€ along with 2 other el primero from the mid 70's that have been skyrocketting in value . Now my sub sea costs between 5000-6500€. The other two model are between the 2900-3500€ price range too
The problem is that the valjoux 72 is vastly overhyped and grossly overpriced but as I said in Magnus's thread the auctions houses and watch weblogs which are most of the times guided and directed by greedy price gougers are responsible for killing the valjoux22/23/72 collector market with unjustified and stratospheric prices.
The people who know Zenith have an eye and the knowledge for the rare and also Zenith is a true connoisseur brand unlike Tag Heuer which is nothing special nor truely exceptionnal regarding watchmaking or even movement manufacture.
The deluca is rare and modern timepiece by many aspect but also a functional and robust one. Also the zenith el primero 400 is a 36000bph so twice the rate of a valjoux 72 and has a capacity of measuring 1/10th of second times and an instantaneous calendar. I don't know what greedy auctionneers, greedy dealers and greedy watch webloggers are smoking to put heavy and beyond sanity price tag like 50k$ whether on a valjoux 72 carrera or daytona especially knowing that they aren't rare nor exceptionnal. Just because something is overhyped and very fashionable that it justifies an insane pricing.
Hidden treasures like the Deluca are often discovered by people who have out of the beaten path tastes and not common likes which I like a lot.
The vintage el primero world is full of charm, a lot hunting and thoroughness is needed but when you find a grail, you never sell it, you keep it for a lifetime.
Best regards
Georges

My thoughts on the Zenith De Luca

After reading Magnus' post I had to go to the bank vault and pick one It made me think ... Is this the most undervalued watch in the vintage chronograph market ? Not so long ago I came across a Vintage Heuer Autavia that sold for an unbelievable 100.000 U...

... NOS at a 50% discount of its already outdated price. Only three years later, I sold it (with some profit, I might add), because - as with most reverse Panda dial designs - it was really difficult to read the time whenever one of the hands was above a ...

I’ve always been enamored by watches, especially chronographs. My father was a pilot having received his license at 16 in 1931, entered the military during WW2 and was a flight instructor at Long Beach. He had a thing about time probably because it helped...

I have been after an El Primero for a while, but never considered the Deluca until I saw the blue face on Chrono24. The only issue I have with it, is trying to find extra links for the bracelet (had to add an extender to the clasp which is not ideal). Des...

I don't think it's that difficult to predict what's going to be hot. The past few years anything that's old, looks good/cool/.... has a decent movement, classic looks, ... is and will be popular and should be picked up. People nowadays buy anything. The s...

Even old VW's from the 80s and 90s are going for crazy prices. The vintage/classic hype is crazy.
