Ever bought a watch you don't like that much ?

a bicolor watch , you know steel and gold ?
Looks so 1980's - 1990's

Mostly I don't like them, or you buy 100% steel or 100% gold but the combination is not my taste. I tried it about 5 or 7 years ago. Bought a Submariner blue dial steel/gold
sold it after a few months cause it just wasn't for me.

But we're on the Zenith forum so I'm not talking about a Rolex.

a 2tone Zenith, don't think there are that many....

whatever, you might know I love the De Luca. A great chronograph with the legendary El Primero Inside.
If I'm not mistaken, could be one of the first Zenith using the EP movement after the re-introduction of the EP. As we know during the quartz crisis Zenith was forced to stop the EP production but our hero Charles Vermot made a great move smile Anyway, in 1984 they made a wise decision and made the EP once again. I believe it was due to a big order from Ebel
In 1988 they made those first De Luca watches, they made them until 1996 and only about 6500 were ever made

All of the were stainless steel except 680 pieces made for the Italian market, the famous 'Cairelli' made a special order smile
Italy was a big market for watches in the 1980's - 1990's   ....  Rumour says the Daytona hype was started around that time in Italy !
So like said, Cairelli ordered exclusively for the Italian market 680 De Luca  .... steel / gold
Only in 1990 Cairelli ordered 530 bicolor blue dial De Luca and 150 black dial De Luca

And I just got the black dial. Is it the most beautiful watch ever? Hell NO, not even close
But the fact that I love the De Luca and I love the EP and 150 EVER made isn't bad either was good enough to hunt for one smile

the box

seems 26 years ago somebody bought himself a nice present for X-mas smile

the legend

14K gold  ... 18K was too expensive ?? LOL

I know, I know  ... not the most beautiful watch  ....

AP RO 36mm in steel case, gold bezel with gold central bracelet links, black dial and gold hands - from the late 80's / early 90's I think - it was gorgeous! And I like your Zenith too! Wear it big and with style . Best, Giles

and a very nice complete package, I like two tone watches in certain designs, such as the Royal Oak and your Zenith. Gives it more character and variation vs. a monotone look. Congrats on your find. S

Only the bezel gold is 14k? What about the rest?

I hope that crown/pushers and central links are not only gold-plated. Anyway, it looks attractive. The most beautiful Zenith I dreamt about in the late Nineties was a yellow golden Class 4 with pilot dial. Marcus

Crown and Pusher are gold plated.... I can see it on the crown, the sharp edge already lost some colour The centre links seem to be solid gold
