Rogi, the Zenith team thinks that this is due to improper oiling of the rotor's ball bearings...

the question is now: does it wind properly when you wear it?

Cheers,

Rotor Squeak normal on the P15?

 By: Rogi : October 29th, 2018-04:52
I haven't worn my P15 in 3-4 months, after putting it on today and arriving at school, I hear can hear a distinct squeak noise (like a mouse) eminating from the timepiece (ive narrowed it down to what appears to be the rotor) as I move my arm occasionally...

All fine

The P15 sounds like as if there is quite a lot going on , when I shake it, while writing this. There is nothing wrong with that: Omegas, even Pateks sound sometimes like that too !

It sounds different than what it used to, ill try and record it tonight but its a definite squeek, the usual sound of the rotor is similar

To my Omega, Vacheron, Seiko etc, but the new sound ive observed is worrying me a lot. In the middle of the normal sound, (like balls rolling the easiest way I can describe it) there is a sound similar to a mouse squeak that appears occasionaly, have you ...

Mine has no mice inside

I do not hear any high frequency noise from the movement. It is just the usual rattle. I only hear any noise if I hold the watch close to my ear. Away from my ear I do not hear anything

My experience is that kind of noise is often the rotor barely touching something inside

It can be a loose pivot due to wear (very unlikely with a P15 as it's so new) and more often caused by a loose screw in the movement winding system, or even the hold-down screws of the movement. Compare your watch to these photos of my watch using a loupe...

Thank you so so much Magnus I’ll try and video it tonight (the sound at least) can I email you the video ? [nt]

Just recorded the noise and sent it via email, thank you so much for checking in on this

Thank you Magnus for checking with Zenith, when I wear my P15, I didn't notice any deviation in winding (only the noise itself) or power reserve, as I hadn't worn it for a long time,

the first thing I did yesterday was to wind it via crown (to around 15-25 rotations). Then when I arrived in school that was the first time I noticed the noise (it is progressively getting more frequent). After arriving home, I set the timepiece aside and...

From the initial wearing, (the full wind and wearing all day), my P15 held a power reserve of about 33 hours, I took some time this weekend and observed that from a small wind (ie 5-10 turns) and

me having it on my wrist for a lazy Saturday (around 10 hours of wear, with the mouse noise increasing in frequency) it kept 7-8 hours of power reserve (a little past overnight) stopping in the morning, when I picked it up in hand again to check the power...
