From 2006, a "Father's Day" gift from my 2 eldest daughters...forever associated with SF Bay Area where we spent their formative years.
Where to start with this beauty from 2005!
My journey down the road with artisanal independent watchmakers began with Peter Speake-Marin in 2003 when I acquired the Red gold version of the original 38mm Piccadilly, fast forward two years and Peter called me and told me he was going to make a platinum cased Piccadilly in a small series of 8 pieces. I asked the price and recoiled a bit, as is typical, the platinum case was significantly more, however as we discussed it, he being the consummate salesman, quietly mentioned his very first watch sale was to an Englishman, and the hook was set!
I agreed to to buy it then and there.
As time went on, he quickly realized that selling time only watches in platinum cases was a losing proposition financially and the remainder of the platinum cases went to Tourbillons for the most part, with the exception of a hand engraved red gold dialed 38mm Piccadilly model. So, my watch is #1 of a series of 8, but he never made the other 8 pieces with an enamel dial. It is a Piece Unique now and stands as a testament to our long term friendship and association.
Visiting my local pub in Raby, Cheshire where in my late teens I spent many a Friday and Saturday night!
HAGWE All,
Cheers,
