Is my expression after typing this up on my phone and accidently dragging my hand and resetting the page
This was a great year. When I started learning about horology (apx 2008), one of the first watches I was drawn to were Montblanc Minerva (collection Villeret). They are the essence of high horology for me - handmade (including balance spring), small quantities(LE of 58 or less total production yearly 200 or less), superlative Swiss finishing (recently SJX placed on par with FPJ and Moritz Grossman), Minerva calibers, etc.
Fast forward to this year, I was discussing finding a more modern green dial Minerva cal. 13.21. I mentioned that my favorite piece was their vintage chronograph from circa 2011. As luck would have it, he knew there was one (maybe 2) NOS available. I just had to jump on it. The 39.5 size, WG case, solid gold dial with enamel, cal. 13.21, pulsometer scale, LE of 58, etc. I loved it all. That was a quick "yes" - montblanc collection villeret vintage pulsographe -
Following on that, we were talking about other pieces from this collection that may be available. I had always liked the cal. 16.29; however, it usually wore too big 44mm++. He had a NOS piece, the vintage chronographe, that was 43.5mm x 12.8mm. Slightly big for me, but the black enamel dial with snail, and that gorgeous caliber (I find 16.29 looks better than 13.21 because it is larger with more room for the curvaceous levers), and striking red accents. So the Montblanc collection Villeret vintage chronographe made its way in -
A surprise addition, as I asked for it from my AD ~2 years ago. I am not a huge Rolex fan, but the jubilee bracelet has always been unique and captivating to me. Pepsi GMT2
Finally, I added something for work, or when I want low profile. Nice vintage vibes and overall small profile. Rado Captain Cook Ghost Captain (LE with revolution)-
In addition I had 3 watches service.
As for what has gone out. I am sure this is controversial, but my LF origin opaline. I love the dial and case shape, and especially the hands. I just wish it were a tad bit smaller, and that the movement was more decorated to my liking. I would have kept it, but at the price on LF if I don't find myself wearing it (maybe 10 times in a year), I got to send it away. Maybe a regret someday? I hope not, I find I will grab my 39.5mm minerva over this piece always.
You will be missed -
