Hello dear Captain! Moser new watches show a daring concept specially in a watch using the blackest black color on dial and black handset which surprisingly can be seen with ease.

Apr 01, 2022,13:30 PM

Personally, I´ve been waiting with special interest to see the novelties from Tudor and Rolex. In the case of Rolex in the last few years I don´t wait for the new models with same enthusiasm of before in spite being a fan of the brand for so many decades.

Thing is that I don´t care too much about new models which I can´t buy at official prices in a brand AD or Boutique. As a matter of fact, I can´t even view them in the metal as those shops have no watches in their windows or displays.

I was expecting a Coke GMT but this year Rolex surprises with a "Destro" GMT and a green/black bezel (Sprite model?) instead. I confess it didn´t make my heart beat faster.

The new Air King? Mmmm... I would have preferred keeping the more traditional no crown guards case in this model with just a change of dial design.

In the meantime I keep waiting for the Titanium no date Yatchmaster whose prototype appeared on Sailor Ben Ainslie wrist last year.

Tudor: I liked the new BB Pro which somehow makes a good replacement of the usually unavailable Explorer 2 from Rolex. Not much love for the new Two Tone versions of BB GMT and chrono. I was expecting a new BB GMT in 58 model size but it didn´t come.

Cartier: I loved the news of new version of their classic "grille" Pasha again available.

Speaking of return of old models, I was greatly impressed with the new version of Model 222 from Vacheron Constantin a watch designed in 1977 by Jorg Hyseck to celebrate the 222nd Anniversary of the brand that year. What a wonderful watch in my eyes!

Last but not least: I loved the new models announced by Patek. I´m crazy for salmon dials with "white metal" cases combos and they introduced the 5172G chrono and 5320g Perpetual Calendar in this configuration. Breathtaking! I also liked very much their new Calatrava 5226G though I´m sad they discontinued the lovely 5196P.

I´m enclosing pictures of mentioned watches below.

Have a great weekend dear Captain and all our dear friends here!
Cheers! Abel

Your Rolex Explorer is superb and the Tudor Pro would make an excellent companion.

You can say that again 😉

The Tudor BB Pro would be an excellent choice. The design echoes a previous generation of Rolex and I don’t feel that this is a bad thing. Definitely one in my shopping list. The watch that really caught my attention is the Patek Phillipe 5172G Chronograp...

All strong choices, Abel!

The Pasha Grille really is fun but I hope a no date version gets added at some point 🤞🏻 I am surprised that even for a long time brand collector like you it’s impossible to view or reliably order the current Rolex collection 😱

The situation is ludicrous …

When long-standing customers of a brand aren’t treated with respect.

Agree dear Captain.

Difficult to predict if this will change…

Looking at some watch prices recently I am seriously considering if it’s still worth it or if enjoying what I have is the better choice 🤷🏻‍♂️ All going bonkers 🤪

Gorgeous three pieces there!

Quite literally they don’t make them like that any more! This one always brings a smile to my face when I wear it. So many complications in such a relatively small package - even thought it’s called the Grande GMT

Good to see this JLC …

Not long at all - only picked it up last month.

 By: Dr No : April 3rd, 2022-17:41
. . . I paid for mine in full last year and was told it would be delivered this year.

That's the situation for first-time clients, unfortunately. The allotment for Ed Whites is based on . . .

 By: Dr No : April 3rd, 2022-18:14
. . . customer profiles. In my case, the only watch I'd bought thru a boutique was the 60th anniversary Rail, but that was enough to get me on the list. Those who have bought more thru a boutique are given priority. My nephew, although having just purchas...

Agreed. And it makes sense for long-term brand success . . .

 By: KMII : April 2nd, 2022-07:07
Something I might want to check out, too 👌🏻👍🏻

Interestingly enough, I was speaking with our Captain just a few days ago . . .

 By: Dr No : April 2nd, 2022-11:59
. . . and he was similarly impressed by Omega's homage to CK 859. Although it is precisely the sort of watch I'd like to see Omega develop, there are several other archetypes more personally compelling such as the Ranchero, RAF '53, US Army ref 2179, et. ...

Your superb collection deserves an Omega! …

 By: Subexplorer : April 2nd, 2022-21:50
… or two or three! 😉 Omega offers so many tempting models even before this edition of W&W! Best! Abel

Do you mean 5 years for the Ed White?

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : April 3rd, 2022-17:32

Yes, judging by guidance from my local Omega boutique. I got my nephew on the list . . .

 By: Dr No : April 3rd, 2022-17:34
. . . but advised to be prepared for a wait of several years, probably five. 😔

CK 859 should be available soon . . .

 By: Dr No : April 3rd, 2022-17:44
. . . and I'm sure boutiques are taking deposits now. The wait time for Ed Whites is so long that boutiques are either declining to add new names or are taking them but refusing to accept deposits.

On that note…

 By: KMII : April 3rd, 2022-07:50
The DeVille Tresor small seconds certainly appeals, even if it is not a new issue…

There are several manual winding Omegas available . . .

 By: Dr No : April 3rd, 2022-17:57
. . . but I'm hoping for a less dressy / more rugged reference as the basis. A white Ranchero would be ideal, but there are many others. For example, an RAF '53 partnered with a US Army . . . that would make a perfect duo!

I see what you mean…

 By: KMII : April 4th, 2022-05:11
I somehow have the feeling that it might take a while for them to make it 🤷🏻‍♂️ Although I have to say that apart from the hype watches they do launch quite some interesting stuff so here’s hoping 🤞🏻

I'm taken by the Seamaster 6000 objectively . . .

 By: Dr No : April 2nd, 2022-12:16
. . . but couldn't possibly wear one, so it's kinda like forbidden fruit - ok to admire from afar, but not to own. As for the rest: too derivative for my tastes except for CK 859. I am hoping to acquire the new King Seiko this year, just waiting for oppor...

I was fascinated with the specification of this watch when it was announced. The dial is really something special. Congratulations on getting the Omega 2410 for your collection.

Ref 2410 was truly the hardest nut . . .

. . . to crack. The other rg chronometer references - 2364 thru 2367 - come up often, and while immaculate examples are rare, one can still find original examples in a condition worthy of wearing. Not 2410 . . . only a few acceptable examples have appeare...

is an outstanding Omega for sure. I am looking forward to your wrist shots with a correct seconds hand. Do you have any news about your Ed White? Best Thomas

The news about Ed . . .

 By: Dr No : April 3rd, 2022-15:38
. . . is disappointing. 😔 Apparently there's at least one person ahead of me in the LA boutique's line, and they haven't received an EW since September. I'll be stopping by soon to try on the CK 859 and will ask for an update. Patiently, Art

Hang in there Art 👍

You know I love them so much. I presently own four: two orange one silver and one black. I also like the Tiffany dial Doxa too! The New Omega 859 already ordered. The Pateks… love them the Salmon dials but out of my comfort zone!😉 Cheers! Abel

Fortunately the watches made it out, so no urgency on shopping on that front 😉 And still three incoming ones to get and digest before new ones are to be explored 👍🏻

Ordered in 2020/2021…

But at least from brands that actually needed to produce them, so not a supply steered delay 😉👍🏻
