This is a tough theme when all you have to work with is a cruddy old iPhone, but I'll take a shot (or two or three...)

Aug 08, 2020,13:37 PM

There's no detail that's not delicious on the dial (can we call it a "dial?") on the Time Pyramid:

Likewise, the recto (not) dial on the Chronographe Retrograde (Was there ever a smaller, shaped chrono movement? And if there was, was it open and gilded?):

Guilloché, blued steel hands, and chrono on/off indicator on the other side ain't too shabby, either 😉:

The guilloché work on even a simple Breguet  dial, like the 5907, makes the watch:

How about the hand engraved balance cock on an ALS?

Or with dual swan neck adjustment, as in a GO?

Turn it over for what are perhaps my favorite blued steel hands (note, too, their mirror-polished pinion):

Can't talk details without mention of Grand Seiko - the Kira Zuri dial...

...or the Four Seasons "Spring":

Heck, even the not-so-grand Seiko Presage shines (quite literally) with the smooth surface of an Arita porcelain dial:

Thanks for looking!

WristScan - Friday 7th - 9th August ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : August 7th, 2020-05:12
Hello friends, WristScan is now live ! This weekend the theme for WristScan is: “ It’s all about the detail” .. and I have the honour of being your host. We make the decision to buy a watch for our collection based on many factors, but one important facto...

Lady first

 By: PoyFR : August 7th, 2020-05:21

Thank you for posting on WristScan...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : August 7th, 2020-05:34
Can you tell us a little more about what detail connected you with your Frank Muller ?

A mechanical manual winding movement Ø12mm

 By: PoyFR : August 7th, 2020-05:53
However sometimes painful for our ladies, what connects me to my wife's watches is the mechanical movement. This is why I displayed it on the side on my wrist shot.

Thank you for letting us know...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : August 7th, 2020-06:17
I’m sure our community will be interested. Have a great weekend.

Please feel free to remove if you do not think it fits here

 By: PoyFR : August 7th, 2020-06:25

GF make some superb watches. Can you tell us anything more about how you came to choose this particular model ? Kind regards The Captain

Thank you, Captain. I like Greubel Forsey mainly because I like the people. Stephen Forsey is a wonderful friend. People make all the difference. Their finishing I can’t get over. It’s close to perfection.

 By: EdTonkin : August 7th, 2020-12:50
This particular watch I haven’t posted yet; just this one closeup. It’s a double tourbillon 30 degrees and to me it’s like looking into a small city. What separates me from so much money is probably a few bad brain cells but it could be much worse; there ...

Thanks a lot my dear friend for your kind comments!

 By: Subexplorer : August 7th, 2020-17:38
Agree with you that red date or roulete date is a very charming detail Rolex should return to use. Please note that even the model name Datejust is written in red! That’s a charming detail as well I feel. The red on the Sub makes a Big difference indeed. ...

The red “Datejust” is certainly a excellent detail....
