By the time I got interested they were already at twice MRSP, now more like at 3 times - probably the modern Omega with the fastest appreciation. And as you say, such a fun watch, too 👌🏻
Hello Friends! Theme may seem complicated at first glance but as we think back in our experiences with hunting watches I´m sure we will find occasions in which we said “Never” regarding owning certain timepieces. Watch C ollecting is a long and meandering...
the Never say Never Again theme!! I was expecting this one coming from you! Superb watch! Impossible not to change of mind when this timepiece appeared in your path! Great photography as usual! Thank you so much for playing and I wish you a great week end...
When I bought my first "real" watch... The Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600 I thought to myself "I will never need to buy another watch"....! Yeah, that plan worked out really well! HAGWE Blomman ...
First of all great theme. And perfect innuendo to this weekend theme....you said all perfectly. Yes it is very dangerous to say never in watch collecting hobby. For me there are two different types of never but I agree that for both there is rule...never ...
... Yes, this is the "Never" I´m talking about, and ... you know how much I love the Rolex brand, specially for their colorful past and vintage models. So I´m happy to know your change in point of view regarding this brand. I only regret today they have s...
I never even thought about owning a Breitling until these two vintage Chronomat “Big Case” examples came my way. The case is on the large size at 48mm but the dial details and beautiful and quite rugged and accurate Venus 178 manual winding movement won m...
Our organisation does not tolerate failure.... With that opening I have to say friends, these are the pieces that I never thought I would add in the collection, I guess these are the top "henchman" to my Mr. Blofeld piece (if you caught the reference hehe...
I enjoyed your post so much my friend. I share with you having said I would Never buy an Omega Ploprof ... and finaly buying a vintage example which I couldn´t resist falling in love with. Your pre Bond Omega Seamaster: I didn´t knew this model. Looks fan...
Hope youre enjoying your PloProf as well they are wonderful This is the 200M released right before the Bond 300M (around 1988 i think.. up until around 94) a small additional thing and just by chance my piece’s extract information, note the location Mr Bo...
... I´m sure I won´t be able to get one originaly delivered to Hong Kong though!! The Ploprof is an icon of an era in diving history and of the develpment of diving watches. A very interesting watch to have in a collection. Thank you for your wonderful Ja...
maybe you know my love for small indie brands and that i told myself i won,t add a watch from a big brand to my collection for a long time . Well because of some nice PuristS who have written some nice artikels a while ago about the Seiko Presage line and...
... loving these watches?? I specially love the second one with that stunning blue dial. Seiko offers a lot of quality for its price. And Watches from their Presage and Grand Seiko lines are superb high quality timepieces. I know a collector here who only...
and your theme reminds is of our blunders from the past... I was VERY sure that I will NEVER buy a Quartz watch... and then I started to collect vintage GPs and you just cannot ignore those two historic milestones... Rest is history HAGWE, CC ...
... follow when collecting watches can take us to places we Never thought we would explore. Why close our minds with such an ugly word like "Never"? Well played my dear CC! Thank you for your contribution to this thread! Hagwe! Abel.
Long long time ago ….I bought a watch from Patek Phillipe salon in Paris. I pre –ordered and flew to Paris to pick it up. Loved it. Spent a lot of money but was happy. I cannot remember if it was in the Salon or a few weeks later I learnt that Patek were ...
Now the watch additional has a story to tell around the word "Never" which we should never pronounce again! Keep enjoying and loving this wonderful timepiece! Hagwe! Abel
It’s a comfortable watch and not as chunky as the bigger lugged 1940 and 1950 cases. But the dial looks HUGE, I have to admit. I love it but there are times I say, ‘Nah, put something on that’s smaller and not quite so bold.’
... I also thought that I couldn´t bear to wear a watch larger than 40 mm... till I discovered and fell in love with Panerai watches. At present I mantain my watches in the 38 to 42 mm range. But I have an special niche in my collection devoted to Panerai...
First, I always said I would NEVER get a yellow gold watch. I was a 'cold' metals guy... Until I fell in love with the Lange PLM and that milky white dial. Then, I hunted one for a better part of the year. My other big thing was 'I will never buy a Rolex ...
And PLM... well, I am not too fond of the black dial, I feel they watered down the whole PLM line with the omission of the email dial. That's why I had to go gold.
I´m also awhite metal guy. But I have to recognize the charm of certain timepieces with a gold case and even with a gold bracelet. Now, regarding Rolex... you know how much I love the brand! I´m glad you decided to explore both!! Keep enjoying them so muc...
Over priced tool watch. It’s for people who don’t know better. A lazy choice. Many more superior brands out there. Too many people flaunting Rolexes in Singapore (retirees with their DJs and young professionals with their Subs). Just going with the herd. ...
I used to be a OWG. My only watch for 15+ years was an Omega Seamaster Professional 300m. When I first got to know Blomman (15-20 years ago?) I said to him, that although I appreciate what he is doing, I would never be a watch collector. My friend, do you...
... I never told myself "I will never collect watches" ... just never thought about the possibility! Guess I followed your path... they begun to arrive little by little and in a short time I was bitten by the collector´s bug! Thank you for sharing your st...
Buy an old Omega ... Buy a watch that was big ... Had a faded dial or was yellow gold ... Was a less than 39mm ... That kept me awake at night ... That had a date window ... Needed a service ... Well that’s what I told my wife ! ...
... "I promise you I won´t steal your shells." "I can assure you my intentions are strictly honorable!" Lol!! I will Never never never forget that scene of Ursula emerging from the sea wearing that white bikini and the dialogs between Ryder and Bond! Chee...
...One of these had been the „I never will buy a Rolex“. But you all know that happened after the LGF thread here in our puristic community. Never say never 😉 And my second NEVER? Well, that‘s indeed a bit more ridiculous. A few months ago I planned a one...
... we should remember a watch is just an instrument no matter the brand, size or being quartz or mechanical if it serves the purpose and you feel confident and happy with it.
...he wore a JLC Navy Seals Master Compressor, sneakers and a duffelbag slung over his shoulder with an unproportional amount of Louis Roederer in it... As long as the watch is up to the task, never mind the rest...
. . . than Eartha! What an exquisite dial . . . to die for, really. It's easy to see how you would fall for its charms. My first Omega was a gift from a friend. I cut my vintage teeth with this one in '05. The restoration took five months, with a few pitf...
Great story behind your two MkII´s dear Art! It speaks of regrets and most important about Friendship. And I´m sure the story comes to your mind every time you wear this beautiful timepiece!! Thank you for sharing here dear friend Art! Hagwe! Abel
my few sports watches are confined to 2 Rolexes (GMT, Sub) and my Seikos. Military watches, especially on NATOs were not my things. And I detested NATO straps. Tried it once on my Speedy, and disliked the feel of it, and how the watch head kept moving aro...
... but I find they look horrible on my wrist. Being rather thin the sides of the Nato looks exagerately thick at the sides when I use them. Anyway they come in lots of colors and they look formidable in photographs, you can play changing the look of a wa...
These are wonderful examples of the classic GMT in several versions. May be you can move to the Submariner now? Another interesting model from the Brand. Thank you for sharing your superb collection in this great shot! Hagwe dear S F! Abel
I tend to be relatively brand neutral, so the chances of a never are not particularly high with me generally. Still, I went through my pictures and found a watch that I really didn’t think I would ever get but in hindsight I wonder why I waited so long. I...
... you are doing well now and back home!! Agree with you: these G Shocks are sturdy reliable and accurate. Bullet proof! Nice to have them on the wrist in certain conditions of use. Always practical! Hagwe my friend! Abel
Unfortunately I have been on various business trips every day since emerging from the hospital, including this weekend. But this will hopefully change eventually. Fully agreed with you on the G-Shock. Certainly not one for the office but it definitely has...
I hope Rolex management doesn`t pay attention to statistics based on questions like: "Would you ever buy a Rolex watch?" Lol! Enjoy these wonderful timepieces my friend, and thanks a lot for your participation!! Hagwe! Abel.
Those jackets are still there, the watches however are not. Flipped. Regret letting that DayDate go though. Having said that; due to its weight (in any account 😉) it is not the most wearable watch in day to day life.
... and I feel it will be a collection piece in the future as well. I really love it and makes me smile every time I have it on my wrist. Hagwe my friend! Abel
By the time I got interested they were already at twice MRSP, now more like at 3 times - probably the modern Omega with the fastest appreciation. And as you say, such a fun watch, too 👌🏻
During many years of watch collecting I have learned sometimes the hard way NEVER to say NEVER…. Probably because I am too passionate I have sometimes put myself in a difficult situation on my own. I remember very well the day that Patek Philippe Geneva h...
... which I can imagine were not easy to let go, in spite of your statement of Never selling them. Some times we need to let them go, sometimes we feel the need of something different. Our journey in Life and in Collecting is so long and meandering... we ...
...but regrets lead nowhere; I had to let them go for different reasons but I am lucky that I had the chance to enjoy them for a while, and in the meantime I have other nice toys to play with
