Well, at least in Italy Rolex dive watches have always had plenty of opponents, particularly among divers using Japanese watches, especially in the eighties and the nineties when literally everybody started to dive with Citizen and Rolex dive watches begun to cost not twice but ten times more than their Japanese competitors. Regardless the great reliability of Seiko and Citizen dive watches, I suppose that much of the Rolex failures were due to the fact that their contenders were quartz watches. Owners were required to change the battery every two years and, consequently, the O-rings and gaskets. Many Rolex owners, like me, never properly serviced their automatic watches.
Although it is not a priority, I am always looking for a meters first dial in nice conditions (the bezel insert is original) and, first of all, someone who may put some tritium lume onto the old minute and hour hands.
Great theme, by the way.
