Thanks a lot my dear Captain! Glad you agree with me in the choice for a watch for an Island two year adventure. Regarding the knife...

... I have been collecting knives, both antique and modern for more than 40 years now. Randall Made Knives are among the most well known knives and I had the big pleasure of meeting Mr. Bo Randall in person several times and maintain a friendship for many years till he passed away in 1989.
Mr. Randall fame started during WWII making knifes as a hobby in his orange grooves in Orlando, Florida. He is credited as the "Father" of modern custom made knives, and started making hunting and fishing knives around 1938 but during WWII he became famous for the quality of fighting knives made in small quantities for men going to war in Europe and the Pacific.
His fame was already established during Vietnam War and he had recruited several helpers at that time. He made the first examples of "survival knives" with hollow handles in those years, as well as models for pilots and divers. He continued making models for big game and small game hunbters, fishermen and several specialized tasks.
He also made the "Astro" knives for the first seven Astronauts involved in Project Mercury during the 1960's.
I gathered a large collection of Randall Knives and I choose this Model 3 Hunter, one of his most popular civilian models, this one with a 7 inch blade, as I feel it is a very useful tool for a man stranded in an isolated island as a knife is one of the most important and basic tool for a man, and this one has a great quality and great design to rely our survival to this knife.
Randall knives are still made in the same workshop of Mr. Bo Randall in Orlando, presently run by his grandsons after his son Gary T. retired a few years ago.
Hope you find interesting this information!!
Cheers! Abel
