The movement is an ETA 2894. Often disparaged as a mere modular movement, but actually possessing some very nice features, such as a vertical clutch and what must be described as simple column-wheel actuation. Yes, the pushers are notchy, but the seconds hand never jumps. And it has certainly been used in pricier watches than this one.

WristScan for 9/16/2016 starts now: Modern watches with a Vintage twist!
Now that I am back in school the budget is a little tight. But I fell in love with this modern interpretation of a vintage model released by Bulova in the 1950's. A generic automatic Sellita movement but so far + 4 sec per day on the wrist. I love the app...

It has to be a GP with "Vintage" in the name
and then it can only be the Vintage 1945. What I really like is how GP took the original 1940ies design and modernised it without adding any faux patina. Over the years since the release in 1995, the case size has increased but it is done in a very clever...
CC, did the original also have a curved case back?
I once owned an example of the Vintage 1945...in retrospect, it was the most comfortable watch that I've worn. Best, Mike

the case back of the original is a snap-on caseback and not curved but the overall case shape is curved like in the modern incarnation. CC
Thanks, I have a vintage Gruen Curvex from the 40's
with a curved back but I didn't know if any other manufactures at the time was implementing it as well. What an optical illusion on the original GP though....it really looked like it did. Thanks, Mike

The re-edition is very close to the original
I do like the newer proportions and the curved case a whole lot, and the comfort on the wrist is top notch

When it comes to honoring the past . . .
. . . it's hard to envision any manufacturer having a deeper commitment than Omega. This year's CK2998 is a good example. Faithful in most respects except color pattern, yet unmistakeably a Speedmaster. Art
