Thank you so much my dear friend! I take your word for the Porche ride! Enjoy it so much!! May be lady luck helps me with the Speedy CB!! (be it so nice as your example). Have a nice weekend my dear Captain! Abel
Hello and Happy New Year dear friends ! We are now live for the first WristScan of 2024 ! The theme, as you can see from our poster is all about our watches and the “targets” that you would like to acquire this year. This could be a particular watch or wa...
1. Today’s starting point is this: 2. I am looking to sell my VC Overseas, my PP 5711J, my A&S Nebula and my JLC RDM in order to add the following: 3a. This combination: or 3b. This combination: Which combination should I aim for - 3a. or 3b. and why, in ...
I feel that resolving this dilemma is a matter of a very personal taste (and opportunity) and only you can decide after much thinking. In any case you can´t go wrong whichever your decision as these are very desirable and wonderful pieces around two class...
I agree with Abel’s assessment of the situation, it’s a very personal decision. If it was me I would go for option 3b. My reasoning is that I love the dials on both the Nautilus Chronograph and the simplicity of the Vacheron dial. Best regards Captain ...
Hello dear friends ! I hope you have had a wonderful festive holiday and started 2024 in a positive way. I have been fortunate to have started the year with a new Porsche after several delays, but it finally arrived on the 1st of January ! As the weather ...
A Submariner is always a great option. I feel you can´t never go wrong with a Sub in any of its several references. (Well, yes, I´m a bit biased here! Lol!) Receive my best cordial regards and good wishes my dear friend. Abel
I’m zeroing in on my retirement date at the end of March - one target that I won’t miss 😂. This will be followed by my second target - spending a week in London and Geneva in early April while attending Watches & Wonders 2024 - flights and hotels booked s...
I’m starting with a Board position on a charity later this month and will look around for a couple of commercial board positions. Combined with more travel and our daughter’s destination wedding in 2025 I think I have enough to keep me busy😉
You certainly have a wonderful target for this year. Both your Moser and Lange look very good in your photos. I particularly like your wrist shots, all are very attractive. Best regards Captain
Cartier Tanks are always a safe bet. I struggled to find a size that worked for me - ended up with a quartz Tank Solo which my son borrowed 5 years ago - and I haven’t seen it since🤣. I ended up with a Santos Dumont which worked better for me size wise. W...
All of my other watches are automatic or manual, I am willing to get a quartz Cartier with the thought that movement is better than the box store quartz watches and the fact that will always be set, running and ready to put on.
It's a great watch. I rotate it regularly between my Royal Oak and Nautilus and it holds its own. Who cares that it's a quartz watch. It's pure class on the wrist.
Living in a desert (from both a culinary and watch perspective) but close enough to Switzerland (can see it from most windows of our flat), it should not be that difficult but our kids largely refuse to leave the house during the weekends 😂🤷🏻♂️ Have miss...
I added 9 new watches (I sold quite a few as well) as I sold watches that I no longer wore or that did not trigger passion anymore. While this might seem nice, it also mean I got rid of quite a few watches (total collection only grew by 2-3 watches in tot...
Quite a lineup of targets for 2024 ! It sounds as though you have already been through the difficult process of selecting watches to release back into the wild 😉 All of the watches under consideration are very nice and it’s difficult to resist any of them...
I hope I have been able to help. It’s not an easy choice as you have many options. Definitely the Speedy and Sub on the basis that they are very useable. The PP is just very chic !…. I have no firm delivery date … yet 🤷🏼♂️
.. From the others I can only say from personal experience, that the PP 5172 is a really chic watch with a classic touch ! I love mine and wish you luck in your endeavours ! Best, 😊
😳 Was the question my beloved put to me this Tuesday. WHAT WATCH? I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY WATCH! I showed you some pictures. OH, OK! My other half bought me this watch on an impulse in 2022 after receiving marketing emails from Bucherer. My obviously indignan...
How close we are to our opinions 🤷♂️ For me, I want to add a rose gold colored case. Right now all I have is steel, Ti and WG. Colored gold is a little bright for me, so I will likely start with a Leather strap vs bracelet (a day date in RG olive dial wo...
Seeing white dial explorer 2 in here, I plan to tell my ad I'd like one. No rush or idea how long for that, which is fine. So maybe not 2024. Also will probably wait until w&w before doing anything because if they make a VC tradionelle small seconds with ...
This edition of WristScan will be very interesting to review again next January. I like your choices, especially the beautiful Vacheron. Congratulations on getting a 992 Carrera T, probably the best car Porsche make today for pure enjoyment. This is my Po...
. . . mostly because discretionary funds have already been allocated to another project. That could change if Omega delivers an irresistible novelty. Besides the pool cues I'm still avidly collecting . . . [bocote shaft] . . . there's a slim chance I'll d...
. . . at least one reference of every chronometer movement they made. When I accomplished that feat a few years ago, the drive to accumulate dissipated. I'm like the guy at the all-you-can-eat pizza buffet. That last slice of mushroom olive pie is temptin...
Cue collecting seems to be fascinating. The beauty of wood combination of colors and grains in an instrument for playing pool with them. A custom made guitar? That would be wonderful! Like you, I´m also wishing some new tempting offering from Omega this y...
One of them is a Blue Mad1 The other one I don’t have any pics yet because its a unique piece with a personal touch. Currently on my wrist this amazing and uber cool Sarpaneva that i have on loan from my Friend and fellow member. Something i hope to add t...
And interesting to read and view our participants’ targets for 2024. In my sights I presently have just one watch: a Speedmaster CB case which would “complete” my collection of vintage Speedys. Of course I’m sure other watches will come but they won’t be...
Sounds like you’ve got your priorities right. The problem with picking a retirement date is that you’ve got to give serious thought to what you’re going to do next. It’s much easier to get up each day and carry on with the same routine. Spending time with...
I have a good idea. I only wish that I will be able to make them reality. Yes, family and friends and traveling are my priority. Let´s enjoy my friend. The best of good luck in your retirement. Abel
It’s good to hear that you have decided to retire and enjoy life to the fullest. I can’t wait to be your get away driver ! As for the CB case Speedmaster I look forward to seeing it on your wrist. Best regards Captain ...
But a fully loaded credit card as well 😂 Congratulations on retirement! Seems to be quite a theme for 2024! Sadly still many years away from me 😉 Some fantastic shots, as always, Abel!
Don´t be sad for being far from retirement! I now wish I were young and far from that. Enjoy so much my dear friend. Have a great year dear KM! Best wishes! Abel
That CB Speedy Vintage sounds very desirable for you, but even most importantly wishing you a good and healthy year, also for your returement, which sounds like containing a number of attractive travels and seeing friends, flooding their playgrounds.. BTW...
I’m happy to know you like my 5508 Sub which is one of my favorite watches in my collection. Agree with you that most probably I will be tempted by some other watches beyond the CB Speedy during this year. Lol!! And hopefully I will be able to reach my re...
I actually feel quite contented right now, which is a wonderful feeling. Nothing I currently 'must have' for this year, but of course things can always change in this marvellous hobby of ours! ...
to all Purists! For me, I'm pretty much content with what I have, so no "must have" targets. Although, from time to time I do think about this watch ... 😊 As of now, I'm still enjoying my last acquisition ... 🍻 ...
My target for 2024 is to get the manufacturers to confirm delivery timeframe for a couple of watches ordered in 2022 LOL..otherwise nothing particular to aim for in 2024. However, I got a Rolex SD43 mm just before Xmas23 which was a watch I had in mind bu...
I did not have a SD and found the previous series perhaps too similar in look to the Sub which i have. With the red font on this, it was the deciding factor for me. Wishing you a bountiful 2024 my friend 😉🥂
Something that should be normal but sadly is not 😊🤷🏻♂️ Who knows, maybe at some point being treated more as a customer might be rediscovered by one or the other brand 😉😂
The first is a Pascal Coyon, with a custom dial. The dial is based on this lovely 30mm, 1928-ish Omega I found a picture of online (of a years-ago sold example): The dial will be not an exact replica, but inspired by this one and has been made by Metalem....
The choice of a Pascal Coyon watch is an excellent target to achieve and I would live ti see the finished watch. Good luck with this project. Best regards Captain
And a question I have been asking myself for a while. To be honest watch wise there is little to nothing that I absolutely must have, most of the watches on my want to list also residing in the collection already. A VC1921 in WG is still something I would...
... the year, as it usually happens to us watch lovers. Your Seiko Izul is a watch which always amazes me viewing, A lot of character and unique design. I can well understand how much you enjoy it. Have a wonderful year dear friend KM, all the best for yo...
Hello dear friend, A Vacheron 1921 in WG would be a very nice choice. It’s a watch that has tempted me several times. I hope you enjoy the M3 Touring when it arrives. Best regards Captain
At this very late stage.. Hopefully not too late, this time.. 😉 Targets ?..Not entirely clear as of this date.. But there are 1 or 2 Pateks, I am considering ( which means these as always are somewhta on the “wallet”-side of the process but there are also...
… for 2024 so soon!!! This is a wonderful classic Rolex with a breathtaking dial. Enjoy in the best of good health! I also wish you that you’ll be able to achieve those other targets you mention in spite of the budget aspects this level of brand requires....
Congratulations on getting your new Rolex. I really like the dial colour and texture. As you say it’s a GADA watch. Travel is a target that I think we can all agree is a good objective for 2024. Best Captain
Many, many, and yes many months ago there was a dream of purple-dial delights..... Torsti Laine GG3 for the wife, an MB&F LM101, and as an added bonus, the Christopher Ward C1 Bel Canto. Even the Wolf case for this trio has a purple lining. The Torsti...
. . . and was profiled many years ago when we had a Purist Of The Month series. Resides in Australia and specializes in Patek 9"'-90 references; he has several, including a ref 5105. Here's his ref 522 cased in steel . . . . . . with pink gold veneer. Lus...
