... this beautiful lady´s wrist. I should confess that in that far times I thought a Submariner was a Submariner and knew nothing about the different references and variants which existed. Much less that there was a 3-6-9 dial.

Film was released in 1966 so this was an early example of 5513. I wonder if it was a personal watch of Mrs. Redgrave or just handled to her by the Director Antonioni or the props department.

A classic marvelous film and a wonderful actress anyway.

Cheers! Abel

Here my entry answering the Theme dear Art:

 By: Subexplorer : April 2nd, 2021-10:31
As said, my actors and actresses I’m fond if is so long... I will just name a few: Diana Rigg (the Avengers 1960’s and Bond’s wife Tracy in At Her Majesty SS) Vanessa Redgrave (Blow Up) Charlize Theron Jacqueline Bisset Sean Connery John Wayne Cary Grant ...

What is Vanessa wearing?…

 By: pplater : April 2nd, 2021-11:09
(Yes, she is wearing something!) Is that a Blancpain? A milspec Rolex? Cheers, pplater.

Hello Pplater! It is curious that she is wearing a rare Rolex Submariner ref 5513 with an Explorer (3-6-9) dial! Worn on a black (probably leather) set of straps. Very interesting.

 By: Subexplorer : April 2nd, 2021-11:21
I remember viewing this film in around 1967 when it was just released and was amazed to view her wearing a Submariner above her shirt cuffs but didn´t noticed then that it had an Explorer dial till a few weeks ago when this detail was revealed in the net....

Great research!…

 By: pplater : April 2nd, 2021-11:39
It is so prominent it could almost be an early example of product placement. Cheers, pplater.

Wayne's acting ability was underrated, in my humble opinion. He was pretty much . . .

 By: Dr No : April 3rd, 2021-12:48
. . . one-dimensional, but within that limitation he was capable of displaying emotion with both his voice and facial expressions. At the height of his powers in The Searchers , as evidenced . . . . . . by these scenes. Art

Agree with you dear Art. Also he is always remembered by his Western films (of course some of them were formidable classics!) but he played other roles as well: soldier, wild animal hunter...

 By: Subexplorer : April 4th, 2021-06:27
... pilot, etc.. Among my favorite Wayne films I can name these two: The High and the Mighty were he played a troubled airline pilot (with a wonderful music theme) and the Shootist with another actor I love so much: James Stewart. Cheers! Abel ...

I would mention Diana Rigg, for sure, but also Kim Basinger, Penelope Cruz... But if it has to be related to actors and watches, then SMQ, Sean Connery, Pussy Galore come to mind...

Were you aware of the uproar among the nerds over this fight scene?

 By: Brandon Skinner : April 3rd, 2021-16:31
People were PISSED that Tarantino could insinuate that Pitt’s character could possibly win a fight against Bruce Lee. He had to answer questions defending his position. Just amazing.
