Many contributions this week in Halloween spirit . . .
Oct 27, 2019,12:33 PM
. . . and none more in keeping than Watchonthewrist's contribution.
It doesn't get any more Halloween-y than this.
Unfortunately, it's neither W's watch nor even his photo, so it had to be dropped from consideration.
:-(
The colors of Halloween are black and orange, and there were many to choose from.
Nicolas' Panerai . . .
. . . Abel's divers from Doxa . . .
. . . and Omega . . .
. . . and last but not least, Henryk's Blancpain.
All on my shortlist. There were two, though, that stood out for seemingly less apparent reason.
Our Captain's latest addition, the new (and limited production) Omega Speedmaster . . .
. . . was an obvious choice. After all, what could be more fitting for a Halloween watch than being made of moonshine?
I was ever so close to calling this submission of The Captain's as our Watch of the Week. Had a nagging feeling, though, that I'd overlooked one.
Sure enough, after several reviews, it dawned that Tegis' vintage Omega Genève . . .
. . . deserved consideration. A Genève with a black dial and lumed hands and markers is highly uncommon. Since black is one of the colors of the holiday, and lume a necessity while trick-or-treating, this particular Omega is a natural Halloween watch. And while there are now five(!) Moonshine Speedmasters in our community, I'll hazard a guess there's only one Genève like Tegis'.
Watch of the Week to Tegis, runner-up to The Captain, and an honorable mention to Watchonthewrist for inspired effort.
Happy Halloween, all!
