. . . with his 'standard' cue, fitted with a medium tip. For straight shots or banks under four rails, he uses a Denali cue with a very soft or ultra soft tip, same as me. Softer tips afford better cue ball control at the expense of energy.
I've never made a five-rail shot, much less six. That's partially due to lack of ability, but also lack of a suitably prepared cue.
