The Seiko 6139 reference automatic Chronographs are quite “funky” and represent the very late sixties and early to mid seventies quite well. They came with multiple dial colors (all had the “Pepsi” bezel) including black, silver and (most notably) golden. The golden dial reference is forever linked to the US space program by virtue of traveling to space on the Skylab in 1973 on the wrist of Colonel William Pogue. From my perspective this is one of the great watches to come out of the “funky” 70’s era and have a place in any serious diversified watch collection.
