By: Subexplorer : January 31st, 2019-07:14
Hello Friends! Theme may seem complicated at first glance but as we think back in our experiences with hunting watches I´m sure we will find occasions in which we said “Never” regarding owning certain timepieces. Watch C ollecting is a long and meandering...
Hello amigo Nicolas!! Your entry perfectly illustrates...
By: Subexplorer : January 31st, 2019-08:35

By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 31st, 2019-10:51
First of all great theme. And perfect innuendo to this weekend theme....you said all perfectly. Yes it is very dangerous to say never in watch collecting hobby. For me there are two different types of never but I agree that for both there is rule...never ...
What’s new?
By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 31st, 2019-12:50
😜
Never Rolex....! ;)
By: blomman Mr Blue : January 31st, 2019-23:26
I have several friends that when asking about watches... Their start comment is "not a Rolex".... And in the end they say "it's a Rolex"! Best Blomman
You’re done. Cooked.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : February 1st, 2019-00:30
You surprised me a bit with the LGF, but Tony came out of nowhere.
He did indeed.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : February 1st, 2019-06:04

I never even thought about owning a Breitling until these two vintage Chronomat “Big Case” examples came my way. The case is on the large size at 48mm but the dial details and beautiful and quite rugged and accurate Venus 178 manual winding movement won m...
Always loved these breitling watches
By: NT931 : February 1st, 2019-22:50
Especially those with the bright attractive hands! Sadly my puny wrists can't take the 48mm size but they're so cool
Great post.

You should write screenplays.

I am afraid that i will like them too 😫. I need to protect myself 😉
We've all been there, dear Abel
By: crown comfort : January 31st, 2019-13:26
and your theme reminds is of our blunders from the past... I was VERY sure that I will NEVER buy a Quartz watch... and then I started to collect vintage GPs and you just cannot ignore those two historic milestones... Rest is history HAGWE, CC ...
Nice entries, CC.

My story
By: watch-guy.com : January 31st, 2019-16:42
Long long time ago ….I bought a watch from Patek Phillipe salon in Paris. I pre –ordered and flew to Paris to pick it up. Loved it. Spent a lot of money but was happy. I cannot remember if it was in the Salon or a few weeks later I learnt that Patek were ...

Thanks Nicolas
By: JohnFM : January 31st, 2019-23:24
It’s a comfortable watch and not as chunky as the bigger lugged 1940 and 1950 cases. But the dial looks HUGE, I have to admit. I love it but there are times I say, ‘Nah, put something on that’s smaller and not quite so bold.’
That’s great to hear, thanks!
By: JohnFM : January 31st, 2019-23:26
With a 6.8” wrist, I admit to having doubts with this beast. But it’s too beautiful to leave in the cage 😉
Great theme. Two things come to mind immediately.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 31st, 2019-23:47
First, I always said I would NEVER get a yellow gold watch. I was a 'cold' metals guy... Until I fell in love with the Lange PLM and that milky white dial. Then, I hunted one for a better part of the year. My other big thing was 'I will never buy a Rolex ...
Thanks. Yes, you are also to blame for the LGF.
By: zabreg1 Mr White : February 1st, 2019-05:02
And PLM... well, I am not too fond of the black dial, I feel they watered down the whole PLM line with the omission of the email dial. That's why I had to go gold.
Always. [nt]

Two great watches!

Rolex? Yuck!
By: jomni1 : February 1st, 2019-00:29
Over priced tool watch. It’s for people who don’t know better. A lazy choice. Many more superior brands out there. Too many people flaunting Rolexes in Singapore (retirees with their DJs and young professionals with their Subs). Just going with the herd. ...
Looks like it.

Easy theme:-)

I used to be a OWG. My only watch for 15+ years was an Omega Seamaster Professional 300m. When I first got to know Blomman (15-20 years ago?) I said to him, that although I appreciate what he is doing, I would never be a watch collector. My friend, do you...
LOL
By: claes_t : February 1st, 2019-06:27
We became friends on grounds other than watches. You think I have cause to ditch him?
Oh yes, I still remember, my friend! :)
By: blomman Mr Blue : February 1st, 2019-06:31
I also remember the look in your eyes while you said never.... Your eyes told another story! Enjoy the ride, my friend! Best Blomman

Buy an old Omega ... Buy a watch that was big ... Had a faded dial or was yellow gold ... Was a less than 39mm ... That kept me awake at night ... That had a date window ... Needed a service ... Well that’s what I told my wife ! ...

There have only been two NEVER in my watch collecting career...
By: JLCman : February 1st, 2019-07:13
...One of these had been the „I never will buy a Rolex“. But you all know that happened after the LGF thread here in our puristic community. Never say never 😉 And my second NEVER? Well, that‘s indeed a bit more ridiculous. A few months ago I planned a one...

my few sports watches are confined to 2 Rolexes (GMT, Sub) and my Seikos. Military watches, especially on NATOs were not my things. And I detested NATO straps. Tried it once on my Speedy, and disliked the feel of it, and how the watch head kept moving aro...

My dear friend Abel.....pls don't lead me to another slippery slope😜.
Difficult topic for me...
By: KMII : February 2nd, 2019-08:12
I tend to be relatively brand neutral, so the chances of a never are not particularly high with me generally. Still, I went through my pictures and found a watch that I really didn’t think I would ever get but in hindsight I wonder why I waited so long. I...
Thank you for your post dear friend KM!! I hope...
By: Subexplorer : February 2nd, 2019-10:40
... you are doing well now and back home!! Agree with you: these G Shocks are sturdy reliable and accurate. Bullet proof! Nice to have them on the wrist in certain conditions of use. Always practical! Hagwe my friend! Abel
Thanks Abel - not home but better 😊
By: KMII : February 2nd, 2019-22:25
Unfortunately I have been on various business trips every day since emerging from the hospital, including this weekend. But this will hopefully change eventually. Fully agreed with you on the G-Shock. Certainly not one for the office but it definitely has...
Good question...
By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 3rd, 2019-00:32
Tudor? Anniversary Speedmaster? Grönefeld? Black Explorer II? Tiger eye? Lange 1 moon phase? ... ...
Tudor 58 or Harrods
By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 3rd, 2019-01:34
Black Explorer II Swiss only
So you only ‘need’ the Milgauss 😜
By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 2nd, 2019-23:14
Having said that, don’t underestimate the power of the Explorer II. It is a superb summer watch. Especially in laid back places 🌴.
tnx
By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 2nd, 2019-23:12
Those jackets are still there, the watches however are not. Flipped. Regret letting that DayDate go though. Having said that; due to its weight (in any account 😉) it is not the most wearable watch in day to day life.

Lucky you, Abel!
By: KMII : February 2nd, 2019-22:28
The Snoopy came out some months before I seriously started getting into watches and then I was too late. But such a fun piece!
That it most certainly is!
By: KMII : February 3rd, 2019-06:03
By the time I got interested they were already at twice MRSP, now more like at 3 times - probably the modern Omega with the fastest appreciation. And as you say, such a fun watch, too 👌🏻

I can only agree, both were true keepers...
By: Mike H : February 3rd, 2019-08:54
