Future Vintage Watch of the Week . . .
May 23, 2022,00:33 AM
. . . turned out to be a detour.
Normally, WotW is supposed to be the entry that intrigues a judge most while hewing to the theme without taking aesthetic considerations into account. (Static Photo and Wrist Shot, by comparison, are essentially beauty contests.)
Given the theme there were several contenders. Obviously Francis5's Lange . . .
. . . and Daniel Roth . . .
. . . would be candidates, as would Stoikos' and Jp75's SD . . .
. . . timeout's Moser . . .
. . . and Chronometer's and Captain's CK 859.
As it turned out, though, I kept coming back to h's UG.
This submission intrigued because it's already a vintage watch by anyone's guidelines, but not given the attention it's due today. My sense is that in the not-too-distant future this UG will be appreciated as a vintage classic in its own right. WotW honors to h for sharing a choice that wasn't immediately obvious.
Hope to see you all Friday for the next installment of Wrist Scan. Special thanks to our Captain for suggesting this theme . . . a little off the beaten path, but it made us all think about our collections.
Best,
Art
