Dear Captain and friend, love the theme this weekend! I am not yet sure where I wish to take the collection in 2024 but I do have several new targets in mind. Just in the second half of 2023 ...
I added 9 new watches (I sold quite a few as well) as I sold watches that I no longer wore or that did not trigger passion anymore. While this might seem nice, it also mean I got rid of quite a few watches (total collection only grew by 2-3 watches in total) bought within the last 2 years that I thought were a good fit for me. So I have to better figure what I like longer term in 2024 to prevent expensive flip!
I have a long list of target and of course I will not get them all, but I might get 1-3 from the list below and welcome any feedback/suggestion. But first this weekend I am enjoying one of my late 2023 arrival which is the AE Sunburst red!
All following picture of my targets taken from the internet:
1- a few possible Rolex/Omega (also considering my first Rolex vintage (submariner with red inscription- not shown)
2- This year could see the first Patek in my collection or maybe a second Lange!

3- The next two chrono, the Patek 5172 and the Lange 1815 chrono are solide options, but due to their value, I am not sure how comfortable I would be to wear them often (more of a mental thing) and I also need to make I would not suffer from buyers remorse! But the 5172 has really caught my eye. I might wear more the previous two targets (Patel 6007 and the Lange RL) on a daily basis however...
The last one is unlikely but if I get the opportunity to acquire a ROO I would jump on it!
I am still not sure where 2024 will take me, but the these are possibilities. Of course I am not ruling out more Alpine Eagles if unique versions become available!!! Thoughts?

I’m starting with a Board position on a charity later this month and will look around for a couple of commercial board positions. Combined with more travel and our daughter’s destination wedding in 2025 I think I have enough to keep me busy😉

I know a lot of "purists" kind of poo-poo the mere thought of quartz.
All of my other watches are automatic or manual, I am willing to get a quartz Cartier with the thought that movement is better than the box store quartz watches and the fact that will always be set, running and ready to put on.
I think Cartier is such an iconic design house that it’s pretty much the only watch manufacture that can sell quartz alongside its mechanical movements in numbers.
The shape and case design is such an integral part of the brand.
Get the Tank Solo
It's a great watch. I rotate it regularly between my Royal Oak and Nautilus and it holds its own. Who cares that it's a quartz watch. It's pure class on the wrist.
