Black Connie came my way thru Bill Sohne over ten years ago, who in turn . . .

. . . had acquired her from Phil [log-in: hockey].
The funny thing is, a year before that, I had been negotiating directly for her. Smitten ever since seeing Phil's photo on TimeZone . . .

. . . and tried trading for her with my first Mk II Speedmaster (now in mrsnak's collection). Phil thought about it, then declined, saying he'd seen a zillion Mk II's, but only one Connie in this configuration: steel, black engraved dial, and rose gold dial furniture. (Since then, I've seen one other. Justifiably rare.)
Less than a year went by when Bill, who had just been made our Omega forum moderator, bought it from Phil, and then offered it to me. To say I jumped would be an understatement.
Ever since, whenever the topic of Black Connie comes up, Bill says, "Art, I'd have never let it go if it hadn't been for my poor eyesight and being colorblind. I just couldn't make out the dial."
