Awesome first shot Stoikos!! A thilling experience must be!! Two great choices of timepieces you share here. I own a Pam 1088 which is a very similar watch. Which reference is yours?

Lovely places you show as an alternative to under the ice diving. Your beautiful Calatrava would be a nice companion there.

The WS of the 22nd of October - 'Digital Detox Watch' - is live!

 By: KMII : October 22nd, 2021-14:05
As mentioned yesterday, the topic for this week will be 'Digital Detox Watch'. I have just returned from a trip, where for better or worse, there was no chance to keep connected to the outside world over long stretches of time (outside of an emergency Iri...

And here the watchesโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 22nd, 2021-14:08
As said, only two in this case: ...

Nope ๐Ÿ˜Š

 By: KMII : October 23rd, 2021-01:41
Coal mines, gold mines but no uranium that I knew of ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚

Gold ! ๐Ÿค”

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 24th, 2021-11:16

Given that 0.3 grams per cubic meter is considered a good haul and that we were there past the seasonal closing timeโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-12:06
Even if the pockets were adequate there was little to be gotten ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Wonderful theme, KM - hagwe all ๐Ÿฅƒ

 By: Stoikos : October 22nd, 2021-16:51
Escape companions- Iโ€™d love to disappear into ice diving off Baffin Island, Northern Canada And Iโ€™d love to spend another summer in the eternal city ...

Two truly fantastic choicesโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 23rd, 2021-01:43
Of both destination and fitting watch. Have you ever done ice diving?

Awesome first shot Stoikos!! A thilling experience must be!! Two great choices of timepieces you share here. I own a Pam 1088 which is a very similar watch. Which reference is yours?

 By: Subexplorer : October 23rd, 2021-22:06
Lovely places you show as an alternative to under the ice diving. Your beautiful Calatrava would be a nice companion there. Hagwe! Abel

Fabulous choices, both!

 By: KMII : October 23rd, 2021-01:44
Only now did I realize how well and subtly the brand has been integrated into the NHC minute ring - fantastic ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป The CasiOak is definitely also a very fitting choice!

Great choices โ€ฆ

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 24th, 2021-11:17
At each end of the spectrum.

Maybe this one

 By: Cookies : October 23rd, 2021-07:21
In the end of days, value will mean a different thing to the survivors, and utility will perhaps mean the highest โ€œvalueโ€. Likely, Iโ€™ll take the silver blackbay along, because the size is comfortable, and it can handle the marine environment too. It helps...

And the underwater shots are truly amazing ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

 By: KMII : October 23rd, 2021-15:44
A fantastic piece and I like the non-patinating silver case ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Thanks Abel

 By: Cookies : October 25th, 2021-09:34
Going for an adventure soon in 2 weeks time. Will take some underwater pics with the Fifty Fathoms bathyscaphe.=D

Excellent Black Bay photos !

and the water looks very inviting ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Aye aye captain

 By: Cookies : October 25th, 2021-09:31

Wonderful pictures! I really like the shot of the landscape from the air.

 By: Ruffian : October 23rd, 2021-08:56
I'd love to get lost (again) in Alaska (maybe during the summer months lol!) This time, I'm heading straight to Denali National Park, where I missed seeing Denali (Mt McKinley) the last time I was there, due to weather. The watch I'll take along would be ...

Fantastic choice of both watch and location!

 By: KMII : October 23rd, 2021-15:46
I actually had an Alpinist with but didnโ€™t snap any pictures with it - go figure ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I agree. The original is the best.

 By: Ruffian : October 24th, 2021-00:33
I wouldn't mind a laurel alpinist though!

Agree!!

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-18:41

Dear KMII, the landscape looks harsh but tranquil..

 By: S F : October 23rd, 2021-09:35
.....the gas pump starts at 30L?๐Ÿ˜‚ Good to know your watches survived!๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป...The second one looks interesting my friend. And who cares about internet connection when you just want to get away from it all......๐Ÿ˜ Have a good weekend! ...

Simply fabulous landscapesโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 23rd, 2021-15:47
Aurora borealis and Fifty Fathoms ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป Finnish side of the border?

Stunning shots dear friend S F! I would love to experience the viewing of Aurora Borealis myself... what a fantastic view! A great choice for this kind of places: a good diving watch...

 By: Subexplorer : October 23rd, 2021-22:20
... like your FF Blancpain is a most appropriate timepiece to have on the wrist. Great pictures as usual. Have a nice weekend my friend. Abel

Yesโ€ฆthe FF is failproof!

 By: S F : October 24th, 2021-04:54
The aurora is really a sight to behold. With our eyes, it is usually a grey mass moving in the skyโ€ฆ Enjoy your Sunday dear Abel!

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-17:45

I can imagine what a thrilling experience must be.

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-17:45
I hope some day I will able to view it! Enjoy your Sunday so much too dear S F!!

Looks chilly ๐Ÿฅถ ..

I like your last shot !

Thatโ€™s cold !

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 24th, 2021-17:12

Beautiful landscapes of your present lands you share in stunning photographs dear friend KM! And great two watches you choose for your "disconection" periods.

 By: Subexplorer : October 23rd, 2021-13:19
In my personal case, I dream with living my years of retirement (which will begin soon I expect) in a remote place near the sea. With a house which allow me to view the sea each morning when my day starts. A gin clear waters I may add which allows for ski...

Love how your seaside / summery shots contrast to mineโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 23rd, 2021-15:49
And a fantastic selection of watches for the occasion. Hope that retirement comes soon so you get to enjoy your seaside abode ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Thanks a lot dear friend KM! Indeed a big contrast in places and in Seasons but we can always find enjoyment in any place or weather I guess. Specially if in good company of Family and friends...

 By: Subexplorer : October 23rd, 2021-21:57
... and of course with nice timepieces on our wrists. Thank you for your good wishes my dear friend. Hagwe, Abel

Stunning photos ! โ€ฆ

True Bond locations especially with the NO Time To Die Seamaster on your wrist. Have a great weekend dear friend.

Thank you so much dear Captain!!

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-14:21
Hope to return to these places some day soon!! Thank you so much for your kind comments and good wishes!! Cheers! Abel

When I want to get away from it all . . .

 By: Dr No : October 23rd, 2021-17:46
. . . I head to Sunset Beach. And the Rail is my 'gotta have just one' watch - dead accurate, easy to set, and tells time in style. Art ...

We share the love for by the sea places and for the Railmaster dear Art! Agree with your comments about the RM. And always congratulate Omega for their Trilogi models of 2017...

 By: Subexplorer : October 23rd, 2021-22:23
... among the best re editions ever made. You show yours in a beautiful Sunset shot ! Have a nice and relaxed weekend my dear friend. A big hug for you! Abel

Perfect choices, both ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-06:58
I have also started thinking those heretical thoughts of what watch I would pick for the only one, and while I did not come to a conclusion the thought was less scary than it would have been half a year ago ๐Ÿ˜‰ The Rail is certainly a fantastic allrounder ๐Ÿ‘Œ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 24th, 2021-11:23
The perfect watch and location.

The one that comes to mind for such an event would be this one:

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : October 23rd, 2021-19:27
...

Hello dear friend Yacomino! Great choice! I guess Rolex had in mind this kind of situations when they designed the Explorer 2. The present version keeps the spirit of the original...

 By: Subexplorer : October 23rd, 2021-22:27
... reference so well. You share it in some great wrist shots of which the last one is my favorite. Enjoy a beautiful weekend my friend. Abel

Look forward to those pictures my friend!

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-18:44
This watch is very photogenic!! Enjoy it so much!! Abel

Thanks! First I need to find the time for one of these expedition

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : October 24th, 2021-19:35
๐Ÿ˜Š

Should certainly be able to weather more or less anything ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-07:01
Plus the remoteness of the places I have been to would also make it completely stealthy - as in no one would know the brand, not that theft is a risk even if they did. In winter you need to keep the car running 24/7, as you will most certainly not be able...

Thanks! It does seem to fit the task! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ™

Going to the ends of the earth โ€ฆ

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 23rd, 2021-21:53
Hello dear KM and friends ! When it comes to an enforced digital detox, two of my watches are definitely up to the task โ€ฆ The Seiko โ€œCaptain Willardโ€ โ€ฆ Tough enough for the task โ€ฆ But if the temperature takes a dive, itโ€™s got to be the Panerai North Pole ...

Hello dear Captain! You made two excellent choices here. Both strong and reliable bulletproof watches for a digital detox situation.

 By: Subexplorer : October 23rd, 2021-22:30
Great shots to share them here. I wish you are enjoying a nice weekend my dear friend. Receive my best cordial regards, Abel

Thank you dear friend โ€ฆ

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 24th, 2021-11:26
I still prefer the Seiko on a NATO ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ ..

I think I left the toaster on ๐Ÿค” ...

Great!! I guess Iโ€™ll follow your example!!

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I was waiting for that Paneraiโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-07:05
And your legendary polar shot of it. Am quite curious where you took that one. We stayed for one night in the Pile of Coldness, the coldest inhabited place on Earth. Pretty extreme at the max temperature difference between coldest and hottest temperatures...

Is that near Lake Vostok ?

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 24th, 2021-11:31

Oymyakon ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Verhoyansk being the second option with almost identical temperatures ๐Ÿฅถ

My two for this type of detox outpost

....would be the rugged functional gmt ....and reliable perpetually running accutron well batteried up thanks for an interesting theme-----HAGWE henry ...

While the Tudor is a classic rugged choiceโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-07:15
I was truly surprised by the Accutron - well done you! This would definitely be a truly interesting wrist companion for a digital detox ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Great choices dear Henry!!

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-19:31
Love the Tudor of course and the Accutron is a very interesting and historical piece to enjoy in an adventurous situation as sggested by the present Theme, Hagwe! Abel

Very interesting topic for this weekend. I would love to experience โ€œdigital detoxโ€ one day, as it sounds fun and healthy.

 By: Sfwatchlover : October 24th, 2021-03:48
For 2 watches to bring to such an adventure trip that may last a while, I would bring my JLC perpetual calendar. I would not want to lose track of day and date without any digital connections with the outside world. The second watch would be the Sinn U50,...

Itโ€™s a fantastic pair you chose!

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-07:17
I find the combination of a perpetual calendar and the Sinn very apropos. As for the digital detox, I can highly recommend it to recalibrate a bit - and as you say itโ€™s fun, healthy and quite liberating ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Thanks a lot, KM!

 By: Sfwatchlover : October 24th, 2021-12:37
I would love to find some free time in the future to do a retreat like you suggested. Will keep in mind and thanks again for the recommendation

Good to see your fully vaccinated shot ๐Ÿ‘

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 24th, 2021-11:33
Have a great weekend.

Two great choices dear Sfwatchlover!!

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-19:28
Smart decision to take a PC complication and a bulletproof watch like your Sinn! Hagwe! Abel

Thanks a lot, Abel, for the kind words!

 By: Sfwatchlover : October 25th, 2021-00:41
It was fun to find good use of the watches in our collections. I love your choices too! Have a very good week coming up next to you!!

Analogue alarms

 By: jml_watches : October 24th, 2021-08:20
Hi Digital detox sounds very tempting at the moment! What would I take - a couple of alarms to make sure I got up in the morning. Poljot - still really rate the blue dial on this one. Vulcan - definition of an alarm watch, & if I get bored there's a littl...

These are two very interesting choices, JML!

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-11:17
The alarm complication is definitely useful in such an environment and the chosen contenders do a great job of waking one up, when needed ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

Great choices dear JML!! Smart idea to have an alarmโ€ฆ

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-19:26
โ€ฆ in a remote location detox trip!! Hagwe! Abel

Thanks :)

 By: jml_watches : October 24th, 2021-20:06
Though if I'm honest, an alarm is always a good choice for me. Cheers JML

Fabulous topic!

 By: cazalea : October 24th, 2021-14:01
I did such a trip in winter of 2000 in a Citroen 2CV, around the perimeter of Scandinavia. Because it's up near the North Pole, this region looks small on our projection maps, but our route took us over 3000 miles - equivalent of driving coast to coast in...

This looks like a pretty amazing trip indeed!

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-14:32
Nothing less expected of you ๐Ÿ˜ In terms of safety we did have an Iridium satellite phone with just in case and there was still enough traffic around to not be too dangerous (plus we had three vehicles with enough seating capacity to abandon one of strictl...

Reasonably good with studded tires

And not too heavy to dig and push out of a snowbank (yesโ€ฆ) Not overly warm inside though. Mike PS - have you seen this film? happy people by Werner Herzog :_A_Year_in_the_Taiga

Not yet but will need to tryโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 24th, 2021-15:10
Thanks for the tip ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป As for not too heavy, I hear you. We decided to go studdless to prove a point and it worked just fine ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

What an adventure dear Mike!! Fantastic!!

 By: Subexplorer : October 24th, 2021-19:24
How many Citroens were participating in that raid? It was an only Citroen event? Thanks for sharing these supershots! Cheers! Abel

Yes, Citroen only, with about 35 cars (video)

 By: cazalea : October 24th, 2021-20:08
Here is a video from the year 2000. I never saw it before today, and I am in it at 2:36 and again at 6:41

Actually the suspension of the 2CVโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 25th, 2021-03:25
Would have been welcome where we were, too - the passengers were often (to misuse a Bond quote), โ€˜Shaken, not stirredโ€™, which would most likely not happen with this car ๐Ÿ˜

One of the legends of the less is more approachโ€ฆ

 By: KMII : October 26th, 2021-17:10
And possibly the only car with a Hermรจs edition ๐Ÿง

Agree!
