WRISTSCAN 19/20 January. THEME: movements

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 17th, 2019-10:45
As I wrote in the announcement yesterday we WIS love our little mechanical wonders. Watches are our greatest vice. At least they are the greatest vice we can openly talk about ๐Ÿ˜œ. Now on a very solid second place we have our cars (and/or perhaps boat). So ...

Since I am not really a car guy...

By: blomman Mr Blue : January 17th, 2019-11:33
I will go for the option without a car! Front: rather anonymous... Hood: still quite plain... Engine: awesome! Zenith Calibre 135 non-chrononmetre - Movement diameter 30mm, balance diameter 14mm(!), 19 Jewels, 1800vph! HAGWE Blomman ...

It's not nice to kill thread with first reply :-)

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 17th, 2019-11:37

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-05:53
Aaaahhh, the V12 is a dream, too bad they're quickly dying.

Not soon enough, in my book

 By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-10:10
When you have to touch it, you regret having it! ...

I donโ€™t want to touch it. I leave that to the professionals.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-11:01
But I do love to drive it. The sound, the grunt...

Very cool! :) [nt]

By: blomman Mr Blue : January 18th, 2019-11:59

German goodness!

 By: NT931 : January 18th, 2019-21:28
I particularly like the GO pic

What a nice minute repeater movement that is!

 By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-04:38
Was it from an old pocket watch?

Thx, yes indeed

 By: dedestexhes : January 19th, 2019-04:49
Encased it is 41mm, so a nice size. However still a project as I still want to change case etc. once I have the time... but certainly worth it. The sound is vastly superior compared to a lot of modern watches... Hope to share more info soon! Br, Dirk

Hello dear Arie!! Great theme for this week end WS and also...

 By: Subexplorer : January 17th, 2019-13:12
... a real challenge: I canโ€™t find any shot showing car engine and watch movement together and there is a limit to the quantity of shots to submit!! With your kind permission I will break a bit the rules showing the engine (sans watch) of our restored 196...

Ah yes I remember the restoration story dear Abel

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 17th, 2019-13:21
Great car! Superb machines pairing! Cheers D

Thanks a lot my dear friend D!! Glad you remember...

 By: Subexplorer : January 17th, 2019-13:42
... the story! It was a big project and work but a lot of fun sharing it with my son! Hagwe my friend!! Abel

Talking about a pristine engine bay!

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 17th, 2019-13:42
And of course the engine bay of the FPJ is also a sight to behold. Great entries Abel. Have a great weekend!

Thanks a lot dear Arie!! Appreciate your kind comments!!

 By: Subexplorer : January 17th, 2019-15:18

A hidden gem.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-05:57
I don't remember seeing this beauty from you before. Nice photos, my dear Abel.

FPJs are always interesting.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-08:47
I have been eyeballing the perpetual calendar, but don't really want/need another one. But love the layout of that. And yes, please show this one more.

Thank you so much dear friend Zabreg!! Agree with you...

 By: Subexplorer : January 19th, 2019-08:11

 By: Baron - Mr Red : January 18th, 2019-05:58

Ha haha!! Ah yes my dear CC !! But I feel I will disappoint you...

 By: Subexplorer : January 19th, 2019-07:20
it has the original exhaust manifold and muffler system so sound is very โ€œcivilized โ€œ lol!! Thanks a lot and Hagwe my friend!! Abel

Ah yes dear Mike!! this shot was taken inside my Citroen C4 from 2011. I had sold it last December. It was hard for me to say good by to it...

 By: Subexplorer : January 18th, 2019-13:17
... I adored that car. But maintanenace was very high lately. I changed it for a smaller Citroen, a C3. The Citroens are my daily drivers to my job. I also own a Ford Mondeo (Fusion in USA) and an Audi 4 which rides my wife. But the Citroen is a very prac...

Very nice, thank you

 By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-13:37
I have had one Citroen from Argentina - which looked like this when I first saw it, and later like this when another guy had spent a fortune restoring it. The restoration was over the top OTT in every way except mechanics, so it was only able to go 45 mph...

Thank you Mike! Yes I remember these little cars! ...

 By: Subexplorer : January 19th, 2019-07:42
they were very popular here in the late 2960โ€™s through 1970โ€™s. The commercial version you show we called โ€œfurgonetaโ€ something like โ€œlittle truckโ€. Nice to know you owned one!! As I said Iโ€™m very fond of this brand! Cheers! Abel

I never realized you had a Journe RDM!

 By: NT931 : January 18th, 2019-21:29
Always loved the guilloche on the rotor.

Thank you dear NT931!! I got this one in around...

 By: Subexplorer : January 19th, 2019-07:41
... January 2017. But I have shown it very few times. Agree: the movement is very nicely finished and the rotor is so beautiful! Hagwe my friend! Abel

Nice one! ๐Ÿ˜„

 By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-04:56
Love the FPJ! Especially the back side is just a pure joy!

Not a car

 By: jml_watches : January 17th, 2019-13:14
But just like watches bikes have the same golden rule n+1 is the ideal number Pedal rather than petrol power No guesses as what this case back belongs to! Cheers JML ...

I love that Memovox!!!

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 17th, 2019-13:22
Such a cool movement. Cheers D

+1 [nt]

 By: dedestexhes : January 17th, 2019-13:34

You're not the only one!

 By: jml_watches : January 17th, 2019-13:41
Great size & fabulous black dial help too

You have my curiosity now. What kind of bike pedal is that?

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 17th, 2019-13:44
Is it a vintage??

It's a flattie on my mountain bike

 By: jml_watches : January 17th, 2019-14:20
You can have toe clips, or clip in - but I fall off to regularly for that! As then your physically attached to bike & makes getting off harder. They on an orange 5 It's also quite clean at the mo! Cheers JML ...

I already have n bikes

 By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-10:17
filling my bike shed why I am I looking to buy n+1? Right! Because it has a motor Cazalea ...

You've got a Raleigh!

 By: jml_watches : January 18th, 2019-10:22
You can always come up for a reason for the +1 Cheers JML

Indeed

 By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-10:43
I have had several! A Professional and an International The International was brown but I had it repainted a brighter color. This photo is from (gulp) 1974. Then my wife insisted on hers having an upgraded paint job too, which my pal Joe Bell took care of...

They look great

 By: jml_watches : January 18th, 2019-11:09
It's good to have history with something - whether it's a watch or a bike. My Trek is only 15 years old - but it happily has handmade in USA emblazoned on it. Thanks for sharing Cheers JML

Can't argue with that :) [nt]

 By: jml_watches : January 18th, 2019-12:55

Lovely memovox!

 By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-04:58
I kinda want to see it in action, really cool!

Also not a car guy but I do like my movements

 By: saso : January 17th, 2019-14:49

You've acquired a bronze jumping seconds Erwin - huge congrats!

 By: NT931 : January 18th, 2019-21:30
I have the Erwin scientific, and have always been impressed by the Habrings' ingenuity and craft at that price point. So cool

Some very fine detail! [nt]

 By: crown comfort : January 18th, 2019-06:48

Thanks everyone [nt]

 By: watch-guy.com : January 18th, 2019-23:30

 By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-05:03
The black polish is stunning!

Couldn't possibly resist this topic!...

 By: pplater : January 17th, 2019-22:07
One picture only; favourite movement (with all respect to M. Dufour!); from the collection; Christian Klings 'piece unique': Cheers, pplater ...

It is rarely shown, Arie...

 By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:21
... which is probably unfair to Christian, who really did a remarkable job on the architecture of the movement and, indeed, the watch as a whole. Thank you for your kind response. Cheers, pplater.

Very pure design. Love it! [nt]

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 19th, 2019-01:53

Itโ€™s a strange world, isnโ€™t it, Nico?...

 By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:23
It seems that we only live in order to kill each other! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Cheers, pplater.

Insanely beautiful movement just like an owner :);)

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 18th, 2019-04:05
Cheers mate! Yours D

Letโ€™s agree โ€˜insaneโ€˜, at leastโ€ฆ

 By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:25
That seems to be almost as important here as passion, information and whatever the third thing was! Itโ€™s really good to see you in full flight again Damjan. All the best, dear friend. Cheers, pplater.

Thanks a lot dear mate...your copilot seat is waiting...

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 19th, 2019-00:15
here hoping to see you spreading your wings again Cheers D

Thank you very much Abel...

 By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:27
Christian certainly put his heart and soul into the movement. Itโ€™s very gratifying that it should find favour in this stratospheric company. Cheers, pplater.

My big pleasure Pplater!! Yes it shows that they made this movment...

 By: Subexplorer : January 19th, 2019-07:23
... with all their heart and soul and it is a true joy to view it!! Thank you for sharing!! Hagwe! Abel

Unusual and beautiful. [nt]

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-06:05

Thanks Mr White...

 By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:30
In some respects, at least, it doesnโ€™t get more unusual. In other respects, however, it is watchmaking stripped down to its purist form. Cheers, pplater.

Well said. Pure watchmaking. [nt]

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 19th, 2019-01:24

Uff, just sooo beautiful! [nt]

 By: crown comfort : January 18th, 2019-06:48

This is where Art...

 By: pplater : January 18th, 2019-22:36
...would insert a YouTube video of a fantastic piece by The Shadows. ๐Ÿ˜€ Thanks Mike; also a very enjoyable virtual tour of your garage. Cheers, pplater.

What a mighty movement!

 By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-05:07
Haven't seen a movement with such many cocks other than one made by lang und heyne, which was one of my favorite movements! Awesome! Seems like pallet lubricating on this movement is such a bliss compared to another movement.

Very astute of you, JFT...

 By: pplater : January 20th, 2019-00:18
It's interesting that you should make that observation. Presumably you are referring to the Lang & Heyne 'Anton' tourbillon movement released last year, itself based on the 'Georg' movement released in 2017. These are they (photos courtesy watchandtim...

Yeah... I mean, I've seen watch movement (W01) that have kinda same finish made by a wostep student from somewhere before...

 By: JFT : January 20th, 2019-08:08
But yeah, I love the minimalist approach on this... We can see more gears interact with each other...

Dear friend, great theme!

 By: claes_t : January 17th, 2019-23:16
I like to think of my vintage 911 as the sport Rolex of cars. Robust, reliable and not very pretty under the hood๐Ÿ˜„ For this theme though I feel the need to post a picture of a Rolex engine that I truly like. I even find it pretty... HAGWE all ...

Porsche & Rolex came to my mind too as a good combination.

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 18th, 2019-00:13
So your spot on! And about the engine not being pretty...donโ€™t know...we could argue. Especially if you send your engine over to Singer. ...

You may like this...

More pics! A feast. [nt]

 By: Subexplorer : January 18th, 2019-04:19

Even if you can afford Singer

 By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-10:22
and you are Jerry Seinfeld, it might be just an old German car kept running with baling wire Cazalea ...

Nice comparison. Perfect, actually. [nt]

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-06:05

Thank you CC [nt]

 By: claes_t : January 19th, 2019-00:59

I tried one once, but sadly the gear stick was underneath my knee so I couldn't safely operate the little car.

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 18th, 2019-05:47
They are very likable! Love the fact that they are almost from the same date.

I love the old 500s

 By: cazalea : January 18th, 2019-10:25

Thereโ€™s a nagging expectancy leaking through some of your recent posts. Weโ€™d be forgiven for getting the impression that you are lining up something โ€˜bigโ€™ and out of left field in the near future, as you have done in the past with pieces like the Freak an...

Not entirely... ;) [nt]

 By: amanico : January 18th, 2019-23:49

Two of my favorite chronograph movement in one post.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-06:13
Kidding, of course, a beautiful and detailed movement for Mrs. B.

Elegance par excellence [nt]

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 18th, 2019-07:29

I always like a skeletonized movement in a reverso case.

 By: JFT : January 19th, 2019-05:16
What a way to hid the wrist hair in a skeleton watch.

Unfortunately, nowhere near an engine.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-05:50
But, the movement Iโ€™m wearing is absolute tops in my eyes. Of course, I am talking about the mighty Datograph. Just a little city of activity. Here is a comparison with the PP 5270G. And here is the King Kong, the PP 5370: Sorry for breaking the 2 pic lim...

will take the last one [nt]

 By: Baron - Mr Red : January 18th, 2019-05:56

Yeah, forgot he always wins.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-07:19
Why even bother fueling my insecurities?

Damn you brought out the big guns! Nobody beats a chronograph from Lange.

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : January 18th, 2019-06:09
Is as simple as that. PS Three movements of that caliber ๐Ÿ˜ is always allowed!

Thanks, my dear Abel. [nt]

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-06:33

Even Dufour says so.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-07:20

You are the man of the movement my friend

 By: Ares501 - Mr Green : January 18th, 2019-07:32
3 heavy hitters but you should have really shown poker of kings

Which would be 4th?

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : January 18th, 2019-08:49
