Sadly, the project failed again a few years ago, now there are new owners and a new project ahead. As a big fan, and user, of the original project and brand, for more than twenty years, I wanted to support the kickstarter campaign and give a tiny help to ... 

I can see a point in sacrificing a mechanical movement for a better design. However, mechanical watches are desired again and Ikepod should here this call also.

Thank you dear Vte for showing this and that an automatic version might be out next year. I saw the last ones, the quartzes, on Kickstarter and will be keeping my eyes peeled.

How do you find the quality of the case and dial. And I assume that it is a two piece case to allow easier servicing. Friction fit or screw down case back? Thanks!

They strongly remarked that the quality for the case and the dial were going to be the best available. The case now has a screw down case back that makes things much easier for service. I miss the original strap though, new one comes with a regular nice b...

. . . on the dial? That indicates delivery to France. Unlikely after 1940. And the reference was out of production by '45. ;-) I'll get movement and case numbers tomorrow after my watchmaker takes it apart. That data will nail it down to the year. Art

For many people, not the most exciting on first look. Yet not the most boring on the 50000th look. That alone could be a nice bargain. For me, its neither: the most exciting on first look and still today yet i know that some people called my decision a bi... 

The hinged case back adds so much to this 5227 and allows personalisation, such as you have described. This 5227 conveys the classic Patek feeling, endorsed by yellow gold material. Very good choice.

I should have known that this is a 60s piece since omega is really open in terms of communicating the relevant historical dates. Yet for me personally, it still is a 70s watch. Thank you for your invitation. I just posted a picture wich is in term of dial...

Unfortunately I've not worn the watch for long enough yet to make an assessment of the Miyota. It seems accurate. On the plus side it is a genuine no-date movement.

I think this is a superb time piece to own and wear, whatever the occasion. Unfortunately, so many regard this as one of the trophy watches to acquire due to its perceived rarity. I like it because it fits me well and the black dial is also my preference....  

I am not drawn to any former model albeit those are also feeling suprisingly "thinn" on the wrist. With the ceramic bezel however the Daytonas, including strap versions, look much better now. I was thinking to like the white dialed one more but your wrist...
