I just bought this yesterday. I am totally glowing and am so overwhelmed that I’m actually walking around with this on my wrist today. I have dreamed of buying a really nice watch since I was a kid but had promised myself I wouldn’t until I could afford o...

I was encouraged by others in the JLC to post here since I posted there last night. Can’t stop looking at my watch. Waited many years for it. I totally agree about that sentiment of wonder prior to buying; I was saturated with thoughts like that!! Funny t...

Oyster caught!

 By: chippyfly : October 18th, 2019-06:51
My most recent acquisition Tudor ref 7934 with some papers arrived last month after a very brief handling by a retailer I have used before. Rolex fully serviced it two years ago and the previous owner had paid 160% cost of what I later paid the retailer! ...

A very well matured Tudor!

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-07:06
Fit is perfect in your wrist, Clive. Really perfect! Regulating it yourself speaks for your confidence: Olè!

Lovely Tudor, Clive. [nt]

Last catch. Vte ...

Another fascinating design piece from Ikepod

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-07:12
Large circles on the dial that then become smaller and turn into orange markers: that is cool! Automatic, I suppose? A nice catch, indeed!

It is not automatic.

 By: VMM : October 18th, 2019-09:55
Sadly, the project failed again a few years ago, now there are new owners and a new project ahead. As a big fan, and user, of the original project and brand, for more than twenty years, I wanted to support the kickstarter campaign and give a tiny help to ...

Thank you for this insight,Vte

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-10:07
I can see a point in sacrificing a mechanical movement for a better design. However, mechanical watches are desired again and Ikepod should here this call also.

A beautiful design and very different

 By: Abacus : October 20th, 2019-00:04
Thank you dear Vte for showing this and that an automatic version might be out next year. I saw the last ones, the quartzes, on Kickstarter and will be keeping my eyes peeled.

Top piece of design. [nt]

How do you find the quality of the case and dial. And I assume that it is a two piece case to allow easier servicing. Friction fit or screw down case back? Thanks!

Quality product as promised.

 By: VMM : October 19th, 2019-13:53
They strongly remarked that the quality for the case and the dial were going to be the best available. The case now has a screw down case back that makes things much easier for service. I miss the original strap though, new one comes with a regular nice b...

Thank you, my friend.

Great quality of manufacture and design

Thank you Fab.

 By: BMR : October 19th, 2019-06:03
As much as I’d like to take credit for a creative strap choice, I cannot. This is the standard one they match with this piece.

Wow . Now thats a gorgeous piece of dutch pride 😉😘

 By: Watchonthewrists : October 19th, 2019-00:58
Great choice . Love that Salmon dial a lot . You would love the brothers . There so much fun to hang out and have a drink with . Welcom to the fam 🤗

Thank you, Watchonthewrist.

I just found this Omega Ploprof with pre-production "Monoscritta" dial. A big fish to me. ...

"Monoscritta" dial sounds already like a big fish

I like the simplicity of this reference.

Why was I knowing that it is your Air King?

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-07:54
Not only the very touching story behind it, and let me come clean on this occasion and say that I did not participate at the time , is the reason I knew it is this one but also due to the refreshing Rolex feeling that this one is offering. This Air King, ...

5 " 5s ", indeed. ;) [nt]

My favourite obscure vintage brand - Doxa!

 By: NT931 : October 18th, 2019-08:35
I really love the simplicity of the time-only manual-wind Doxas of the 1940s-1950s, and when this appeared, I couldn''t resist! Just arrived a week ago, courtesy of a fellow collector and a gentleman. It came with the original hangtag, strap and buckle. T...

Oh la la!

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-08:40
That looks like a delicious catch. Anymore infos available? Year?

Thanks! I think it's roughly from the late 1940's-early 1950's based on the style

 By: NT931 : October 18th, 2019-17:08
But thats a very rough guess - Doxa's records were lost in a flood many years ago so it's hard to be certain. Their time-only dress watches can be quite charming, and so I try to acquire only those in jumbo size (like this one, which is 37mm). Although I ...

Simply stunning [nt]

 By: Brandon Skinner : October 18th, 2019-09:50

My latest catch Sinn 358 diapal

 By: brauner : October 18th, 2019-08:55
bought it when I visited the factory in Frankfurt. Good for travels. Second timezone, reliable, exact, tough and strong like "Wopa". Here in PNG some weeks ago. ...

I can only consent, brauner!

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-09:00
Very Good, solid quality and inmistakenly a Sinn design. Nice "action" watch.

Great Sinn...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 19th, 2019-02:40
I don’t own one yet, but over the years I’ve been tempted... it’s only a matter of time. Your photos look great, congratulations on getting this one.

Thanks. If you like your temptation growing visit their exhibition in Frankfurt.

here's one of my latest catch... sigh... the team has been playing badly for the past 6 years, just too bad I'm a fan... hahaha... ...

Haha haaa: " sigh ... the team has been playing badly..."

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-09:05
Maybe at the next service you can ask for a different "red club" to be put on the bezel?😀 The watches are very sporty and nicely technical looking👍

have been a fan for more than 3 decades, so changing to another club is not an option... hahaha...

 By: terbaboom : October 19th, 2019-08:52
although it seems like it’s going to be the other red club’s glorious days for a while

Just reeled in this minnow . . .

. . . Wednesday. Ca '40 Ω ref 3635, aka the Marine. Off to my watchmaker tomorrow for assessment, then my strapmaker for a leather strap made from an old saddle. Happy as a clam, Art ...

That is vintage!

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-09:38
I am sure it will look fab once the strap is in and overhauled. Classy reactangular Omega, lovely hands. From what year approximately?

Should be late '30s or 1940, Count. Notice the 'FAB.SUISSE' script . . .

 By: Dr No : October 18th, 2019-10:09
. . . on the dial? That indicates delivery to France. Unlikely after 1940. And the reference was out of production by '45. ;-) I'll get movement and case numbers tomorrow after my watchmaker takes it apart. That data will nail it down to the year. Art

I noticed the FAB SUISSE on the dial and recalled it to be hence a French watch

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-10:23
Looking forward to knowing soon more about this piece 👌.

Grazi, Don Nico! . . .

 By: Dr No : October 18th, 2019-10:11
. . . a vintage Ω tank has been on my wish-list for years, so when this one was offered, I couldn't say 'no'. ;-)

Wow dear Art!! That´s really a BIG catch! A most important piece for an Omega collector!! Will look wonderful in that leather straps!! Look forward to view it...

 By: Subexplorer : October 18th, 2019-14:24
... when you get it "dressed"! Enjoy it so much my dear friend! A very rare model to find! Big Congrats! Abel

Lots of potential Art ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 19th, 2019-02:53
I love this kind of project... It takes experience and vision. It’s going to look great when you have finished with it.

Stunning piece, Art

About 10 years ago I bought a watch which was probably my first ever Grail, something which when I first became interested in watches I never could have imagined owning... an IWC Big Pilot. It was a new 5004 which is an amazing watch. After many years I b...

Aahhh, these pesky "necessities of life": who needs a new kitchen if you can have an IWC Pilots Watch???

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-10:19
Very nice story, thegrailwatch. It proves once more that a watch has always a story. I consent to your feeling that a movement should be a slow beating one. Only Zenith gets away from that rule 😀. Very nice version of the Big Pilot Watch!

Yeah, believe me, I definitely can say we don't use our kitchen every day!

 By: Brandon Skinner : October 18th, 2019-10:24
Watches on the other hand are daily😉

Great to see this version of the Big Pilot...

What an awesome story!

Simply elegant!

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-12:02
The hinged case back adds so much to this 5227 and allows personalisation, such as you have described. This 5227 conveys the classic Patek feeling, endorsed by yellow gold material. Very good choice.

Thanks for your comment.

 By: Reuven Malter : October 18th, 2019-13:45

Nobody does the reedition as good as omega does. I also love their museum collection. Your piece is so fantastic. Very 70s dial, yet less bling bling than - say - the datejust 41 with the golden dial. Oh and omega is quite fast when it comes to bringing t...

Thank you so much for your kind comments Reuven! Agree with your kind words about Omega. This watch is a great tribute to the original 1969 model 145.022.

Oooh...

 By: Reuven Malter : October 18th, 2019-13:55
I should have known that this is a 60s piece since omega is really open in terms of communicating the relevant historical dates. Yet for me personally, it still is a 70s watch. Thank you for your invitation. I just posted a picture wich is in term of dial...

Well, the Speedmaster is a timeless design: Born in 1957 as a driver´s chrono, it is a "modern" design even today. So the Moonshine is as 50´s and 70´s as beautiful as today...

 By: Subexplorer : October 18th, 2019-14:20
... The history of the original gold 145.022 of 1969 is very interesting to read. You may google or search the articles devoted to the present model and the original one and know its story. The first watches of the 69 model were presented to the Astronaut...

 By: Weems@8 : October 18th, 2019-16:01
I put mayonese and spice on it. So salty, it is not everyones taste.

Thanks Count for a most interesting theme this week -- I'm also curious to see what our friends will share in this thread, especially the newest members :-)

 By: FabR : October 18th, 2019-16:44
Even if I've already shared my recent acquisitions, since the latest three are by far my favorite and I did make a collage of them together (also posted in a previous thread), let me just play with them (together and then separately) this week, if I'm all...

Have you been dynamite fishing?

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-23:40
How on earth can you get such many big fishes out of the sea? I called the excisting lot of members the wild bunch ... you are proving it😀. I tend to say it is show off what you are displaying here but your collage is brilliant. Very nicely played, FabR👌 ...

Very impressive my friend .

You really nailed it with these collages

 By: ChristianDK : October 20th, 2019-08:46
I ADORE your collection and I think I agree with your pick for the Boccadasse as the favorite. However all three would make any owner proud.

New Speedy!

I recently bought a new Speedmaster. It’s been on my radar for many years. Loving the Speedy experience! ...

The koi fish of this place: how cannot one like it

Many different alterations in the pond bit the classic one is still ruling.

Yes, the original has lasting character.

There is much to be said for the 50 Caliber 1861.

...ended up with this not too long ago HAGWE ...

You have harpooned yourself quite a nice Pressage

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 18th, 2019-23:54
What an appealing dial and unusual display of complications: date and day like a chrono display. Precisely harpooned, halkcb!

Good to see your Seiko...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : October 19th, 2019-03:15
Always a great choice as they make excellent watches. Thanks for joining us.

My latest fishfinger: Timefactor's Smiths

 By: Abacus : October 19th, 2019-00:04
A great opportunity for lurkers to join in! ...

Abacus, pardon me that I did not mention lurkers specifically

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 19th, 2019-00:14
I planed to, but in my excitement hosting I simply forgot 😀. Your Timewalker was unknown to me and I looked it up immediately. Very tasteful dial and good quality bracelet. How is the Miyota movement performing?

Thank you my dear Count!

 By: Abacus : October 19th, 2019-01:19
Unfortunately I've not worn the watch for long enough yet to make an assessment of the Miyota. It seems accurate. On the plus side it is a genuine no-date movement.

Happy to welcome you here, Abacus! [nt]

WristScan is only as good as we collectively make it. Your Smiths Everest looks great and I can’t remember the last time we had one posted. Have a great weekend.

Thank you dear Captain Scarlet...

 By: Abacus : October 19th, 2019-08:11
This isn't an original Smiths but a newly made one. I wanted something that had modern levels of water resistance.

Lurkers are welcomed here Abacus! And invited to participate. This is a good opportunity to start posting! And you did with a beautiful and interesting watch and shot...

 By: Subexplorer : October 19th, 2019-13:40

Thank you dear Abel...

 By: Abacus : October 20th, 2019-00:12
I thought I'd deploy my Hogg's Veldtschoens as a backdrop as they were free of mud at the time! I will try and keep up the posting. This is a great forum for seeing so many fantastic and extraordinary watches; I shouldn't find it hard! Have a good weekend...

My big pleasure Abacus and thanks a lot for your kind comments regarding our place.

Great theme dear Count de monet . Like you i also got a Alpinist lately. Such a amazing watch . Great bang for the buck imho

 By: Watchonthewrists : October 19th, 2019-03:13
I also got a ,,classic,, DeBethune DB10 a few weeks ago . Was one that was on my wish list for a few years now and was lucky to get this great piece . Also lucky to receive (yesterday)a watch that I wanted for a while now The amazing Kurono Tokyo by Hajim...

Excelent pieces! The De Bethune in particular

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 19th, 2019-04:42
Also on very fitting straps, very tasteful. Yes the Alpinist is fantastic value for money and rightfully very loved. Thank you for showing third watch, that I have not come across so far.

Thanks my friend 🙏🏻🤗 [nt]

 By: ChristianDK : October 20th, 2019-08:52
Great catches all of them. I’m really curious about your impressions of the Kurono. Well done my friend

The Kurono is a great watch and also for a good cause.

 By: Watchonthewrists : October 20th, 2019-11:14
The dial and finishing is amazing like we know from Japanese Watches .

A latest catch.........

 By: nomadgiles : October 19th, 2019-05:28
.....is not for me A present for the beautiful woman in my life - she’s not yet seen it, so shhhhh ;-) A same dynamic dial men’s version is due on my wrist soon, but for now have matched straps: ...

Aaah, what lovely story, what lovely Omegas

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 19th, 2019-06:20
I am sure this present will be very enjoyed! Great matching straps, my friend.

In spite of all the hype and hullabaloo ...

 By: fernando : October 19th, 2019-07:52
I think this is a superb time piece to own and wear, whatever the occasion. Unfortunately, so many regard this as one of the trophy watches to acquire due to its perceived rarity. I like it because it fits me well and the black dial is also my preference....

I think it is also a beautiful Daytona, Fernando.

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 19th, 2019-08:23
I am not drawn to any former model albeit those are also feeling suprisingly "thinn" on the wrist. With the ceramic bezel however the Daytonas, including strap versions, look much better now. I was thinking to like the white dialed one more but your wrist...

Latest into the collection Panda from Austria🧐

I will have to look it up, JML

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 19th, 2019-10:22
Did not know such manufacturer was exsisting. I should educated myself more about alarm watches 😀. Nicely played!

There seem to be a whole raft of brands long since gone that had automatic alarms around then

 By: jml_watches : October 19th, 2019-10:35
Plenty were opting for the AS5008 movement. It my second one from that era A tradition Brainmatic in all its 70s glory! again with an AS5008 cheers JML ...

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 19th, 2019-10:55
Enjoy your well deserved retirement Daytona in WG. This Daytona looks fab in any metal. Nice shot!

I had made known my interest on the piece about a year back. So yes,

Thank you Nico 🙏🏻

 By: KamalRostov : October 19th, 2019-17:11
It was either this or a 1680. As I could not find one with all the boxes ticked, and with my AD coming through for me on the LN, it was a no brainier 😊😃

I spend more time working than ‘fishing’, there’s always a latest. In fact let me present two - one that I share with my wife, and our daughter’s latest:Have a great weekend, all 👍🏻 ...

Sharing means caring

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 20th, 2019-04:10
Always nice to see that a watch is shared. A very elegant Habring makes it certainly easy. Lovely watch for your daughter: I am sure her friends will eny her 👍. Have a good Sunday, KMII.

Thank you so much for your kind words :)

 By: KMII : October 20th, 2019-06:38
And in the meantime it appears that most of my watches are now shared. And I am quite fine with that The Habring was a little taste of things to come for us, until each one gets their own on top

We still need to infect our two year old...

 By: KMII : October 20th, 2019-06:39
But it's just a matter of time Have a great weekend!

Congrats on such a nice catch
