 By: Geo : June 18th, 2009-23:48
This weekend is kinda relaxed for me with just a concert and a diner with friends. Rotonde for me these two days. Have great weekend guys. GEO This message has been edited by DrStrong on 2009-06-18 23:52:29 This message has been edited by MTF on 2009-07-0...

Thank you Jeff

 By: Geo : June 19th, 2009-00:32
Glad you appreciate a watch like that. I really like 'different time reading' models. GEO

lovely cartier Geo. 1 hand can do so many things

 By: G99 : June 19th, 2009-10:07
can i clarify please, is that a day/night indicator or a moonphase? best Graham

One hand can sure do so many things

 By: Geo : June 19th, 2009-11:55
Hi Graham, Thanks! You're very right, it's just a Day & Night indictor, no moon phase. Ciao. GEO

There is a sun in your watch....

On my wrist is this beauty that hasn't left my wrist since i got it. There is always something new to see and she wears soooooo comfortable...

Hope to see a shot of the reverse side of the watch

one day. The back is as stunning as the front. very nice Frank! GEO

Would it look something like this ?

 By: Mark  : June 19th, 2009-00:45
Sorry for the lousy picture.. Regards Mark...

Yep!

 By: Geo : June 19th, 2009-00:56
That rotor looks so good. IMHO The whole thing turns around, not just the lower part, that makes it so different. Very cool watches these Sarpaneva K2 and K3. GEO

Caseback.... your wish is my command ;-)

 By: monochrome : June 19th, 2009-01:18
The rotor is fully skelletonized and Sarpaneva used 2 white gold masses at one end of the rotor, leaving a small gap in between. He also drilled a hole in the mainplate, right underneath the date window... and since the datewheel is a disc with hand cut n...

Amazing rotor

 By: monochrome : June 19th, 2009-07:13
Yes George... the rotor is all round and moves due to the two white gold masses

a hole in the rotor behind the date is such a simple solution to improve its clarity yet so effective. Graham

Am I right

 By: Geo : June 19th, 2009-01:14
when I think it's an alarm watch? GEO

Correct

 By: Mark  : June 19th, 2009-01:26
You are correct - it is an alarm watch. Crown at 4 o'clock is used for winding / setting the time, crown at 2 o'clock is used for winding / setting the alarm. regards Mark

your close up shows a very good level of finish on the dial Mark

 By: G99 : June 19th, 2009-10:15
i think Russian watches are very under rated the same as some of the better chinese brands. what does the alarm sound like in comparison to a Seiko bellmatic or JLC? best Graham

O&W

Ollech & Wajs were established in 1956 by Albert Wajs and Joseph Ollech. They mainly made divers and pilotwatches, not very expencive, but with relable robust movements. O&W closed down about 1980. In 1979 Albert Wajs bought 500 cases and parts from Willy...

I must confess that I got a cue from both you and Nico, Graham

 By: AlexSunrise : June 19th, 2009-19:28
And I was also lucky enough to learn that one of my most loved watches was also produced in 1980. It took me a year or so to find it, and it is not in the best of conditions, but then again, I also have a scar or two from my almost 29 years of life so far...

. . . it's very difficult to capture a decent image of this watch, and this was the best of ~ twenty I took yesterday morning. I might need to pull out the Nikon SLR to get a decent snap . . . cordially, Art

will be wearing this this weekend

more vintage Omegas. it great to see them

 By: G99 : June 19th, 2009-10:40
as we've discussed on the Omega page, there seems to be an attraction to vintage Omegas that you dont get with other brands. certainly not in such huge numbers anyway. 3 in a row and they all look great. best Graham

That's an unusual dial, Stefan . . .

I don't think we'll need to apologize anymore for the "iphone pics"....

That's a huge improvement

 By: Geo : June 19th, 2009-11:34
I am still with the first generation iPhone and the camera pics are just O.K., and for sure not like this. Macro is complete impossible with the first one. Great shot! GEO

Unless you have the iPhone camera enhancement kit

HAGWE -- Richard.

glad to hear you like this unusual dial too...

 By: FanFrancisco : June 19th, 2009-11:43
thanks Art, i like this dial very much too. i have started to collect omega watche with "seamaster 600" on its dial. this one houses cal.601. i also started like this movement because it is simple and manual wind without date which keeps me ease of mainta...

Stefan, i really like the...

 By: G99 : June 19th, 2009-12:04
Stefan, i really like the numerals on the white dial, but i'm not sure it originally came with 'seamaster 600' on it even if it has a 6XX calibre inside it. my understanding is that the 600 range is essentially the 500 range with the rotor removed. best G...

i am also not too sure...

hi Graham, thanks and glad to hear you also like these watches. in order to answer your question whether these dial is original. in fact i am also not too sure about that. but i have some information here: for the first one with numerals, accroding to the...

Stefan, i only made that...

 By: G99 : June 20th, 2009-04:25
Stefan, i only made that comment as i personally have never seen a seamaster 600 with what essentially are 'dress dial' style numerals and i've seen a lot of Omegas over the years. having said that, you never know with Omega especially in the 50's -70's. ...

here is some answer for your question...

 By: FanFrancisco : June 20th, 2009-05:31
hi Granam, >i dont really know why Omega did it as most >people when seeing 600 or 30 on the dial would assume incorrectly that it was >the water resistance and not the movement calibre range. they didnt put >seamaster 565 on the dial so why did they feel...

They're both uncommon dials, Stefan, and neither . . .

This weekend. These Anonimo's are not very well received on this forum but still one of my favorite Brands (Common movement and all, wthatever! Keeps perfect time ), Cases are the best I have ever seen from any brand....

The most important is that YOU like it, aboen

 By: amanico : June 19th, 2009-22:28
The others opinon doesn't count. Best, Nicolas

I'm with Nicolas on this one!

 By: dxboon : June 19th, 2009-22:35
Aboen, if you like it, what else matters? I would never buy anything for the sake of anyone's approval. I'm pleased that you're pleased with your watch! Cheers, Daos

It's not that they're not well received...

 By: dannymc : June 20th, 2009-10:25
...it's more so that they're not often seen. Which is a good thing in my book! I love Anonimo watches, the movements are solid although not exciting (stock eta) and the level of finishing of the cases is excellent, made all the more appealling by the fact...

i really like the Anonimo's,...

 By: G99 : June 20th, 2009-11:02
i really like the Anonimo's, especially the bronze alloy cased model. i've often been tempted to buy one just for a case that self patinates, but i dont really have need of a divers watch and too many other things in the pipeline. best Graham

I wear a vintage hi-tech (what a correspondance) tuning fork 9164 day and date caliber in Longines Ultronic from mid 70's Ultronic...

Very nice Longines …

 By: AndrewD : June 22nd, 2009-02:21
Hi Foullis I really like this dial. A classic, clean Longines design and the blue accents, which you have set off nicely with the strap, are a great final flourish. I would love to know more about this watch and its history. You should make a new post on ...
