By: COUNT DE MONET : October 15th, 2021-14:08
I hope all of my fellow Purists have got a good start into their weekend and are ready to indulge in some great watches here on WristScan. The theme today is all about pieces that you thought you would never be able to get, you would never be offered, or ...

Excellent theme Count

Your theme has got me reflecting yesterday about the philosophical nature of collecting. 2 pieces were unexpected for me. Let’s start with the good news. Good news: A former moderator here told me he spent north of 20k for a similar piece when it was rele...

Thanks a lot

I decided to take the plunge and use the BB58 in the pool (although chemically, silver can show some erosion with chlorine). It quickly showed a yellowish tint to the metal. That’s the plus and minus of silver. ...

Each time I see this movement, I’m fascinated by its specification and technical ability. All this and not a blued screw or gold chaton in sight.

This is English watchmaking…

at its most authentic.

Many thanks!

Still very much looking forward to seeing this one in the metal.

 By: Jay (Eire) : October 17th, 2021-14:09
How does it fit into your rotation? Is a day to day watch?

Sometime, yes! Mike has seen it.

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : October 17th, 2021-19:29
Because it slides so neatly up a shirt cuff and due to the Frodsham team's goal of making it very reliable (you may recall one prototype was worn on daily bike commutes, the other worn while mowing the lawn, etc), I've discretely worn it quite a bit.

Excellent and thought provoking theme …

SteveG cost me a lot of time perusing his photo site, and a lot of money chasing watches he had found BEFORE they became popular. I fell in love with this GS SBGW003 and hunted for 2 years. One finally popped up in Singapore and a young fella on this site...

Oh yes, Steve G's watch collection is epic and a great source of inspiration

The Daytona 116515LN with discontinued dial. I was very lucky to have the chance to buy this below list 4 years ago shortly before the market got excited by gold Daytonas on the oysterflex strap. I bought this quirky late 90s Speedy “Japan Racing” MK40 2 ...

Very well done Stoikos: that Speedy looks extraordinarily good!

Dear Abel, I’m totally with you our AD friends job is not easy nowadays too….

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 16th, 2021-14:57
That is why I never push them for my list. This WT is one that was already on my “forget about it” list so I was super excited when it came. Congrats to you too on the historical Astronaut Speedmaster. HAGWE as well Sir.

Hello dear Count!! Great theme which I’m sure will bring some…

Comes to my mind, if you are rightfully saying "it's more than just a watch". Very touching story of a group of dedicated Paneristi and good to hear that a major brand is listening to their followers. Outstanding watch! 👏👏👏

It absolutely is and it’s hard to put into words.

 By: Ahoi : October 15th, 2021-22:17

First off, thanks for a superb new topic Moritz, we are already seeing some really interesting and unexpected entries in this thread from our fellow members! A natural choice for me is obviously my most beloved "Boccadasse" Patek...before that spring 2018...

Well, if there is somebody deserving the Boccadasse, then it is our dear Patek Moderator

Hi Fab, that is great news! Adding The School of Fish to it makes perfect sense. Lucky you! Why am I not getting calls like this ... 😫 Have great Sunday, my friend!

Tremendous addition to your collection …

The special paintings are so sublime and glorious. I wish there were more people like you in this world - it will be a colourful, exuberant and more-begets-more mentality in this world.

... having your Place in the World on its dial, which makes it so special and unique. Now you are adding this new watch with its breathtaking dial showing a fish school (which I feel are the so called "grunts" which abound in coral reefs and shipwrecks). ...

Thanks my friend, both for your nice words and for finding the fish!! Just the other day my girlfriend and I were trying to figure it out, but the best a statistician and a mathematician working together came up with was the "blue striped snapper"! ;-)

 By: FabR : October 17th, 2021-13:56
The grunt, perhaps the "smallmouth grunt", totally looks like our guy now!!! This combination of horology and art is precisely what I love the most in a watch, and I feel I got again really lucky with this piece -- I'm very much looking forward to picking...

My big pleasure dear Fab. There are many fish species

In this hobby, one has to expect the unexpected.

 By: Ruffian : October 17th, 2021-02:22
This watch was really unexpected. I was interested, nay obsessed, with the PP 5711/A several years ago. And the usual story at several ADs ('there's a long waiting list') greeted me. Then one morning, when I least expected it, there it was, staring at me ...

Ruffian, we all think you did very well!

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 17th, 2021-09:43
A proud owner of a Nautilus. Happy for you!

You say well dear Ruffian: in our hobby we can expect the undexpected! Lol. This is a most wonderful unexpected catch and I´m happy to know you own it and in which circumstances.

 By: Subexplorer : October 17th, 2021-12:47
Well done my friend! I´m sure you are enjoying it so much and that you always will remember the circumstances of its catch every time you have it on your wrist. Best cordial regards, Abel

Dear Count, this is my first participation of Wristscan with the theme of “unexpected”

One of the biggest surprise for me in the past year was the acquisition of my Tudor black bay ceramic as I was not in the market to buy a Tudor and nor was I expecting this watch to become such a weekend warrior for me! So clearly here getting that watch ...

Saw your all black Tudor this weekend and I must say: very nice!

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 17th, 2021-14:27
The black Explorer II is also a very appealing watch to me ... but I can't have them all ! Yes, it feels very good to be back with my fellow Purists!

For me, it has to be the Pascal Coyon Series 1

I was too late to sign up for one back in 2017 after it was all sold out. After years of trying to find one, I was out of luck. Very few came up for sale, however, all out of my price range. On an early morning earlier this year, I got a message from a fe...

Another philosophical approach to collecting: the watch will find its way to oneself!

And once more a fellow wacht lover assisted in the deal: the watch world seems to be still a good place to be ! Lovely PC ... look at that bridges !
