When I received this watch several years ago, I did a little research on the English 9K Gold hallmarks to determine when it was made. I never saw my grandfather wear this watch, and was curious as to the story of it. Alas, the story of its original acquisition and subsequent use by him has long gone to the grave with him.
Sadly my father, his only child, is relatively clueless about watches in general, although I’ve been able to open his eyes a little, to our wonderful world.
It’s one of those pieces that is tremendously valuable in terms of sentimentality, but honestly it wears so small, that for my taste it remains a safe queen. Perhaps my taste will evolve in time, we shall see.
Anyway, thank you for the huge acknowledgment, much appreciated and great to be amongst so many fascinating and neat pieces this past week. Well played everyone!
Cheers,
Tim
