I met him for the second time in Basel earlier this year, where he showed me his new Kudoke 1 with his caliber he created with the Habring’s and UWD, Marco Lang’s movement manufacturing company in Dresden.
I was quite taken by this new direction of Stefan’s work, having appreciated his earlier brilliant hand skeletonizing, but not totally connecting with it. This, however was another feeling. I wanted it!
The first look in Basel of the prototype piece he showed.
Upon ordering the watch then and there, I was eager for it to arrive. Many months later, early October, the box from Saxony arrived. Very excitedly I opened up the box to find a now firm favorite in the collection. I appreciate Stefan’s attention to detail and his inspiration for the movement finishing coming from an old English pocketwatch from the mid 1800’s that he’s had in his collection for a number of years. Taking inspiration from past masters, is something I appreciate in a watch, if done well and with good style.
The other aspect I enjoy is an improved dial from Basel. Close inspection of the following pics should reveal what Stefan did.
The day it arrived!
Now to a wrist shot or two...
The above were taken in San Diego Bay while spending a very enjoyable late November afternoon with Cazalea!
A couple of weeks ago in Baltimore with the evening sun.
HAGWE All,
