Not quite how it is...
That hole on the upper end of the pipe is tapped to hold an annual date disc in position.
The cam, year wheel, pipe and date disc once set when I make them are all screwed in position and can't be seperatly rotated.
The equation hand is pegged so it too can only fit in one position. All that remains is to fit the equation & minute wheels in place, turn the hands around 1 hour which will trigger the quadrants release, the tail on one quadrant will now spring out to touch the flag and equation hand will now be set relative to the cam. If the cam was placed on an equal day that is what will show, if the cam was anywhere else that is what will show on the equation hand.
