Who is more perfect? ...  

Can you tell us anything about your interest in watches and your collecting journey so far ?

All watches that presented here very good finished, and answer depends on tastes... some people like rounded anglage, some people like flat, some people like Geneva stripes for decoration, some like frosted or mate finish. But i like GF )

have been amazingly well taken. All three brands are superlatively well finished and if anything many may say that GF is over engineered. GF though makes some of the most accurate watches around so one could argue that this is partially due to their watch... 

I think GF's case, hands, dial and lugs also good. And greubel forsey should be the most independent independent watchmaker. Almost all the parts are made in-house.

as the GFs in general are not the most wearable watches due their larger or awkward case designs but this is my opinion as a lover of round case sizes between the sizes of 33mm and 39mm. Voutilainen epitomises the classic shape of 37mm to 39mm and let's n... 

I tried on GF numerous time but didn’t close the deal “yet” because at my current age I want something I can wear daily and and wear to all occasions because I no longer change my watch daily.. I normal rotation is more like 3-5 days each watch. The GMT S... 

You have a point there! If GF ip1 and Voutilainen vingt-8 were the same price and scarcity, what would you choose?

I have tremendous admiration and respect for Voutilainen but his watches don't have any emotional impact on me

this hobby of ours caters for all tastes. We need fans for Richard Mille, HYT and MB&F - niche brands that may not be for everyone but have a proven fan base.

The case shape, dial, lugs and discreet elegance of the Voutilainen wins hands down. The Voutilainen can always be a daily watch. The GF less so.

If Dufour Simplicity and Voutilainen vingt 8 had the same price and scarcity (ignoring Dufour's reputation and collectable value), which would you choose?

not because of the investment value of the Simplicity but because of the beauty of the dial whether with Arabic or Roman numerals. Either the 34mm or 37mm case size would be perfect. Notice I am not even going to comment on the movement which would give t... 

But my choice is Voutilainen vingt 8. Because it was more customized, I could choose to customize my dial and case, each one unique. Dufour does not make its own dial and case.

I actually like the look of Dufour's case and dial even though he did not make it himself. It is like I like the dial style of Daniels and RW Smith over anything produced in Switzerland. But that is just me and my odd tastes

very subjective but we can agree that it has to have the highest level of movement and case finishing techniques, some use machines, those done by hand are more appreciated as they have a more "human feel" vs. a clinical machines finish, ultimately the fi... 

Does anybody have an answer to which one is the cheapest? And another question, what watch with the best hand finishing is the cheapest? I unfortuantely do not have 100,000 plus USD laying around for the greubal forsay :P

They can appear rounded our blunted through I bit of over polish, in the GF I see no sharp angles. Everything appears rounded. In the KV I see sharp edges meaning he was prepared to take the chance of polishing something to absolute accuracy and not take ...

as for the question... I think at this level, it all depends on whose style suits you. both are out of this world to be honest :P

Interesting what fans of haute horology gravitate toward! Another fascinating thing is that one may find a watch to be an incredible, amazing piece of work, yet completely unmoving of one's passions. This ratio between horological art value versus persona...

You've mentioned a few examples of amazing craftsmanship and finish. To me, the "design" is as much the look and feel as the form and function - for the user and the watchmaker. I personally find the design of many GF to be to much on the "screen" for me ... 

In general, if I'm trying to compare finishing, I'm first looking for the difficult finishes. This would be things like well-rounded anglage with sharp interior angles, black polish on large and/or round parts, and engravings. Some other things to look fo...

Is black polish the most difficult skill to accomplish?

If you know "how to", have the feeling for polishing in your fingertips and the polish paper grades and pastes required, the effort is time (patience is a virtue).

Greubel Forsey is my answer, as their approach towards design really lends itself to demonstrating a pursuit of perfection. More perfect does not mean more appealing or desirable, however. Not at this level, at least. It comes down to taste.

I am no expert but I understand a little bit about detailed technical work. I think to get an answer to who is more perfect you would need to ask the watchmakers themselves, since they are all at the pinnacle of watchmaking and they will understand better...
