Awesome

This confirms my genius as a visionary caliber designer. That's pretty awesome... Thank you!

Answer on this question depends on tastes

 By: Tsoroev Rashid : April 13th, 2020-05:52
All watches that presented here very good finished, and answer depends on tastes... some people like rounded anglage, some people like flat, some people like Geneva stripes for decoration, some like frosted or mate finish. But i like GF )

The first two photos

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2020-06:18
have been amazingly well taken. All three brands are superlatively well finished and if anything many may say that GF is over engineered. GF though makes some of the most accurate watches around so one could argue that this is partially due to their watch...

But

 By: 1528523921 : April 13th, 2020-07:52
I think GF's case, hands, dial and lugs also good. And greubel forsey should be the most independent independent watchmaker. Almost all the parts are made in-house.

I beg to differ

 By: sham1 : April 13th, 2020-08:42
as the GFs in general are not the most wearable watches due their larger or awkward case designs but this is my opinion as a lover of round case sizes between the sizes of 33mm and 39mm. Voutilainen epitomises the classic shape of 37mm to 39mm and let's n...

I double that.. GF is humongous (think MB&F HM series) .. exquisite pieces for sure.

 By: Fjan : April 13th, 2020-09:53
I tried on GF numerous time but didnโ€™t close the deal โ€œyetโ€ because at my current age I want something I can wear daily and and wear to all occasions because I no longer change my watch daily.. I normal rotation is more like 3-5 days each watch. The GMT S...

Yes

 By: 1528523921 : April 13th, 2020-22:21
You have a point there! If GF ip1 and Voutilainen vingt-8 were the same price and scarcity, what would you choose?

GF all day long...

 By: SALMANPK : April 13th, 2020-23:39
I have tremendous admiration and respect for Voutilainen but his watches don't have any emotional impact on me

And which is why

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2020-00:02
this hobby of ours caters for all tastes. We need fans for Richard Mille, HYT and MB&F - niche brands that may not be for everyone but have a proven fan base.

Vingt 8!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2020-00:00
The case shape, dial, lugs and discreet elegance of the Voutilainen wins hands down. The Voutilainen can always be a daily watch. The GF less so.

Great choice!

 By: 1528523921 : April 14th, 2020-00:11
If Dufour Simplicity and Voutilainen vingt 8 had the same price and scarcity (ignoring Dufour's reputation and collectable value), which would you choose?

Dufour Simplicity

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2020-00:40
not because of the investment value of the Simplicity but because of the beauty of the dial whether with Arabic or Roman numerals. Either the 34mm or 37mm case size would be perfect. Notice I am not even going to comment on the movement which would give t...

You're right!

 By: 1528523921 : April 14th, 2020-03:53
But my choice is Voutilainen vingt 8. Because it was more customized, I could choose to customize my dial and case, each one unique. Dufour does not make its own dial and case.

I see your point!

 By: sham1 : April 14th, 2020-05:11
I actually like the look of Dufour's case and dial even though he did not make it himself. It is like I like the dial style of Daniels and RW Smith over anything produced in Switzerland. But that is just me and my odd tastes

Its like asking which wine or cigar is the most perfect....

 By: SALMANPK : April 13th, 2020-06:32
very subjective but we can agree that it has to have the highest level of movement and case finishing techniques, some use machines, those done by hand are more appreciated as they have a more "human feel" vs. a clinical machines finish, ultimately the fi...

I think, with how beautiful each piece is, the next questions comes to.... which is the cheapest ;P

 By: Spencer Karrington : April 13th, 2020-06:51
Does anybody have an answer to which one is the cheapest? And another question, what watch with the best hand finishing is the cheapest? I unfortuantely do not have 100,000 plus USD laying around for the greubal forsay :P

I am far from an expert on finish but I would guess that many watch makers move away from sharp angles like points as

 By: Patekphilippecollector : April 13th, 2020-07:14
They can appear rounded our blunted through I bit of over polish, in the GF I see no sharp angles. Everything appears rounded. In the KV I see sharp edges meaning he was prepared to take the chance of polishing something to absolute accuracy and not take ...

GF also have sharp angles

 By: 1528523921 : April 13th, 2020-07:42
...

Actually a lot of high end indi do the sharp angles

 By: nwk00 : April 15th, 2020-22:12
finishing. The reason why most big brands can't do it because this process can't be scaled, and if they insist on doing it it would eat into their profit margin or they have to charge higher to build a bigger margin. They are not moving away, they simply ...

Out of those three

 By: TeutonicCarFan : April 13th, 2020-07:29
I like KV. Something about how he finishes really sings to me

welcome to the forum!

 By: woodman : April 13th, 2020-07:36
as for the question... I think at this level, it all depends on whose style suits you. both are out of this world to be honest :P

Welcome, they are all fantastic! Will no one choose RG? They deserve some praise, or no?

 By: Spangles - Dr. Tabby : April 13th, 2020-10:11
Interesting what fans of haute horology gravitate toward! Another fascinating thing is that one may find a watch to be an incredible, amazing piece of work, yet completely unmoving of one's passions. This ratio between horological art value versus persona...

If we could just drop the GF Tourbillon and Bridge into the KV

I think I'm on to something here๐Ÿ™‚

Look at this!

Wow!!!

My 2 cents

 By: Watch_time_it_is : April 13th, 2020-13:05
You've mentioned a few examples of amazing craftsmanship and finish. To me, the "design" is as much the look and feel as the form and function - for the user and the watchmaker. I personally find the design of many GF to be to much on the "screen" for me ...

Well said :-) [nt]

 By: Watchcph : April 25th, 2020-07:59

I think it's very hard to say at this level, unless you could find a way to visit each brand and watch the finishing process in person

 By: jleno : April 13th, 2020-18:37
In general, if I'm trying to compare finishing, I'm first looking for the difficult finishes. This would be things like well-rounded anglage with sharp interior angles, black polish on large and/or round parts, and engravings. Some other things to look fo...

All three movements show

anglage and black polish. Your question about which is better is a bit like comparing premium cars, but there are some professional standards that describe a perfect or at least very fine finishing. Anglage and black polish being two of the most significa...

Thank you for your enthusiasm.

 By: 1528523921 : April 19th, 2020-05:12
Is black polish the most difficult skill to accomplish?

At least it requires knowledge, experience, time and a certain talent for polishing

 By: xyz123abc : April 19th, 2020-05:46
If you know "how to", have the feeling for polishing in your fingertips and the polish paper grades and pastes required, the effort is time (patience is a virtue).

All fantastic...

Greubel Forsey is my answer, as their approach towards design really lends itself to demonstrating a pursuit of perfection. More perfect does not mean more appealing or desirable, however. Not at this level, at least. It comes down to taste.

Great photos and watches

 By: toxly347 : May 7th, 2020-10:17
I am no expert but I understand a little bit about detailed technical work. I think to get an answer to who is more perfect you would need to ask the watchmakers themselves, since they are all at the pinnacle of watchmaking and they will understand better...
