This has been an interesting week !

Today this Swiss pocket chronometer  with pivoted detent escapement arrived.
When I got it the escape wheel was not not being unlocked at each and every rotation of the balance, I determined that the gold passing spring was at fault. After letting the mainspring down I removed the balance and saw the passing spring had been bent away from the detent tip which meant the unlocking roller did not always catch the spring to unlock the escapement.
I reset the passing spring and now it is running as it should.

The first video shows the action of the cylindrical hairspring in motion

Above view of the balance and escapement, the pivoted detent moves so quickly as it unlocks and returns that it appears to be fixed, if you look very carefully you can just see the detent twiching.
