Vacheron Fifty Six Day Date Reference 4400E/000A-B437
AS a personal preference, I chose a watch with sub-dials instead of double windows.
Case 40x11.6mm. 30m WR. The case is a little unusual because of the angles. But, I got used to it.
The stainless steel case is surprising light, almost like titanium. After wearing it for 20 days on a trip to Europe, I decided that I like this feature.
Cal 2475 SC/2 26.2x 5.7mm with 40 hours power reserve. It has an effective rotor and winds well. Nice feel when manually wound.
This new watch was quite accurate; -1 second/day over 4 weeks. But, ranged from -2 to +2. Not bullet proof like a Rolex.
As an entry level watch, it has no fancy tricks. The calendar change is semi-instantaneous.
Dial has double rails, with a gray opaline center, and sunburst exterior. IMO quite classy. The luminous hour markers are quite ineffective. But, the broad edged design makes it easy to read at any angle.
The only reservation I have is the rather oversize cross on the clasp.
Verdict: A nice 'tool' watch from an illustrious name. Can be used daily. As expected, a strong clean design from Vacheron. This is my first VC and I'm pleased.
