But while the lugs are perhaps the standout feature of this watch, it really is about the entire watch. Those lugs would be out of place with a different case or dial, and the case without the lugs would be generic. Also, the traditional movement perfectly matches the case and dial.
For me, this is the strongest point of the Cornes de Vache: it is a watch where everything comes together in perfect, natural harmony.

The dial of the 5170J has many similarities with the one of the Vacheron Constantin Ref. 6087 from 1954. :P

Prefer this dial to any modern patek chrono
strongly prefer this dial and hands to any modern (sapphire) patek chrono ever made bulls horns were more an acquired taste for me - but i'm there now!

Definitely my favorite manual chrono from the big 3.
The other contender being the ALS Datograph, albeit with a very different design language. The PP5170 never spoke to me, but the 5270 is really growing on me.

I prefer rose gold over platinum, but I say price is a big factor too. I could get myself a new AP RO with the price difference. Unfortunately I don’t see many pre owned corne de Vache on the market
