Strap opinion for Vacheron Constantin Cornes de Vache
I was hoping to solicit forum members’ opinion on a choice between two straps for the platinum CdV. The main difference between them is that one has a glossy finish while the other is matte. The first picture below is of a very stylish gentleman who is wearing a custom order VC strap with denim color (that’s the name) in a glossy finish.
The subsequent series of pictures is my light blue, matte finish aftermarket strap taken at different angles and lighting to show you the strap color and also the dial hands.
Initially I loved the VC strap, but I didn’t notice the gloss at first. My concern was that it might overwhelm the dial components, or just not integrate with them as well as the matte strap.
Yes, I know I’m overthinking a small issue, but I would sincerely like to know what do you think between the two straps?

Botha re nice straps but the matte one just gels better with the watch for me - that second picture really shows how well it pairs. And even in more intense light it works well, being a closer match to the case 🙌🏻
First of all, you can wrap that beautiful watch in a ham sandwich and it will look great.

I like this idea of a light gloss. I will need to try his services, thank you.
I can’t recommend him enough.
High quality materials and the leather liner he uses is so soft on the inside. But the biggest difference was being able to customize the hole positions and spacing - almost like a micro adjust ability with straps - so much more comfortable.
Matte or semi-matte

I prefer the gloss strap here - primarily because of the bright blue color.
It highlights the chrono hand beautifully.
Matte for me
I come at this one with the assumption that this strap will be more of a casual wearer than a formal look. From that perspective the matte is more in line and, as someone noted, won't overpower the look of the watch.
I think that glossy watch straps are dressier.
But that is based on my sense of style (or lack thereof).
I tend to favor matte straps. HOWEVER...
in this case I think the glossy one just looks fantastic. Glossy often means oversaturated in color, but that is not the case here. The matte one looks a bit dusty by contrast.
Good points, thanks. I didn’t necessarily appreciate the usual effect of gloss and various degrees, but I see what you’re saying here.
The light does seem to mute it a lot, but I think the dusty characterization is still fair.
Matte all day for me
Glossy is too shiny and blingy for me. You have chosen a perfect color which compliments that watch dial perfectly! 👍🏻

I think the color on the matte one is a better match for the watch as well. Plus I generally prefer matte gators to glossy ones. On another note, stellar Cornes de Vache, this is the best version of them all. And Aaron‘s straps are a top choice. ...

It is a matte grey from VC and they do have a very light gloss to them.

For me the choice is easy as
