CDV 1955

 By: CL : February 3rd, 2020-09:42
This piece finally arrives. How I wish more watches are in this size range, 37-39mm. This watch wears very comfortably and light on the wrist. watch has strong presence due to the lugs and intriguing dial details. Overall, it feels like a special piece wi...

Beautiful!

Congratulations, beautiful piece. Looks like it fits wonderfully. Fully agree, fit is critical and wish watches were more that size too!

Yes, great lugs.

If they make this watch 40mm, it will not fit my wrist at all. Only watch at 40 mm that fits me perfectly is PP5970 . I don't mind the size of 5070 because it is meant to be BIG. Conceptually it works.

The platinum one convinced me too.

 By: CL : February 8th, 2020-16:23
I would be happy with the platinum one as well.

I personally do like black dial

 By: CL : February 8th, 2020-16:33
but I have difficulty reading the time. And as for Salmon, I think I'm sick of this color appearing in every watch...haha. It has becomes like a gimmick.

But VC historique chrono

 By: CL : February 11th, 2020-07:05
did have a salmon dial and that was the original. Then Patek popularize it and every other brand also love salmon...haha. SO, I guess it is legot for VC to come out with a Salmon dial

The dial tone reminds me of...

Lange One Stealth. This watch can be very stealthy at certain angle, very similar to the Lange One Platinum piece. Legibility wise is better than the Hodinkee piece but I wouldn't say it is a fast read . After seeing the dials of all 4 pieces, this is my ...

I think so too. it is so so gorgeous compare to the other siblings [nt]

 By: Gelato Monster : February 4th, 2020-05:32
i like this one 1st then Hodinkee 2nd

What a beauty!! [nt]

Superb - great choice!

Real traditional watchmaking They don't make many like these anymore

Indeed...

 By: CL : February 3rd, 2020-10:19
It is very surprising that most watches are not this 'simple' anymore. For a modern watch, this piece has soul, which is rare bird nowadays.

No envy :-)

This piece is not limited and will be very accessible as long you are willing to wait .

Congrats on a stunningly beautiful piece!

Now, that’s a true ‘Grail Piece’ for me. Enjoy that beauty! Don’t let her become a ‘Safe Queen’ . . .

No 'Safe Queen'

 By: CL : February 3rd, 2020-10:50
I bought this watch because I have placed another one in the safe :-P

That dial!

 By: respo : February 3rd, 2020-12:06
It is amazing to me how much the dial changes depending on the angle and the light. Sometimes the minutes track ring looks blue and sometimes silver. The rest fo the dial looks either gray or silver. I love the play that this dial gives. You have captured...

I was taking a risk

 By: CL : February 3rd, 2020-12:09
when I ordered this piece without seeing it in metal first. I have always loved watches with silvery dial that changes with the environment lighting. Now, I can safely say that the dial is truly mesmerizing. A very nice daily wear.

Huge Congratulations ! For me this is one of the most beautiful watches in the world. And among mainstream-brands,

 By: kpk : February 4th, 2020-00:08
perhaps a tiny-handful of watches I want. I have tried the Platinum and Rose Gold versions. I have never seen the SS version. Please share more pics of the dial and movement when possible. Wear it in the Best of Health, and May it Time only the Finest Mom...

Such a beautiful watch in so many ways...

 By: holdemchamp1225 : February 4th, 2020-04:57
I absolutely love the details of the dial. This CdV in SS is on my wish list and I hope to be able to purchase one in the future. Just have other watches ahead of it at the moment so will need to remain patient. I believe this will become a modern icon al...

A real beauty.

 By: mrds : February 8th, 2020-11:21
ok I‘m biased. Still, the CdV has so much class... Like a beautiful woman dressed in jeans and a tee. Never screams at you and at first glance you hardly notice it, but when you look at it, it’s just perfect! (The lugs are the heels hehe...) Cheers, Danie...

I heard from the VC boutique

 By: CL : February 8th, 2020-11:28
that your platinum version will be discontinued this year. It has been subtly starting to be reflected in the after market pricing. I do think all 1955 CDV chronograph should be limited to 36 pieces....haha ...

I like good underdog watches :-)

 By: CL : February 8th, 2020-12:02
This CDV 1955 has the modified lemania movement that's also used in Patek 5070, which I had owned long time ago. People tend to complain about small movement on big watch case but we rarely hear that about PP5070, which is the most iconic chronograph of m...

Fully agree with you.

 By: mrds : February 9th, 2020-02:49
You make important points, I couldn’t have said it better. I also love the PP 5070. For my smallish wrist, the CdV is perfect, and I like the fact that it is much less known than the 5070.

What about 5170?

 By: MPP : February 9th, 2020-15:08
I am completely torn between buying the CDV (platinum) and a preowned 5170G (either black or white dial). Pricing is nearly identical. The 5070 is too big for my small wrist, hence my interest in the 5170. But I also love the CDV, which fits me perfectly....

Put it simply...

 By: CL : February 9th, 2020-16:31
A platinum piece or a Stainless Steel piece will always beat a white gold version. Imagine if Patek comes out a 5170 Stainless Steel, how much will that cost? I have tried 5170 for a long time and I keep trying to like them as I do love Breguet numerals. ...

CdV vs 5170

 By: mrds : February 10th, 2020-12:32
I think from the aesthetics side these are two very different watches. The CdV has more character with its distinctive, rounded lugs and vintage proportions. The PP 5170 is quite discreet and versatile, but imho has less personality. Both are made to a ve...

CDV it is

 By: MPP : February 10th, 2020-18:15
I bought the platinum CDV today. Should arrive tomorrow. I decided the dial and the case were exactly what I wanted. And I already have a couple of Pateks, but no VC, so that was the clincher. I also seriously considered a Datograph and tried one on at th...

Congratulation!!!

 By: CL : February 10th, 2020-18:36
The Platinum CDV is very elegant and also very versatile. I love the blue lettering on the dial As for the Datograph, it comes in two sizes. Not sure which one did you try. The original version is same size as the CDV but thicker.

Congratulations, MPP!

 By: mrds : February 11th, 2020-02:33
Great choice! I hope you will have the same pleasure wearing this beauty as I do. Looking forward to the mandatory wrist shot Cheers, Daniel

Loving it. ...

This is a fantastic image of an awesome watch!!!

You should post it as a new post so everyone can see it. This really fits your wrist perfectly. I am sure you are loving it !!!
