Same design, different brands .

I have always been interested in the design of V&C before 1938, which is imaginative.

Especially photo REF 2157/2158/2462 They are not just a watch, they are miniature sculpture art. I think little number of each model were produced at the time, and after 100 years, the odds of seeing the original are low. I was lucky enough to see a similar watch on web these days(from Christian). Cyma , used caliber 030. Two cases used the same design. But the picture on the left was made by a German case maker, and the right one was clearly a swiss case maker . It is difficult to find information about the case designer/manufacturer on internet. The lion head lugs , could you talk about the artistic style of the case design? Looking forward to more friends join the discussion.

I think there is no better than VC. Todays Overseas, your Lion heads. Sorry i can not give you info, but ask Tick and Talk, he knows everything about VC.

Fascinating but not surprising

Good find! Curious how you determined the Cyma has a German case, can you show us the case markings? Thanks for providing the photo reference number for the V&C. You noticed no doubt that it was one of a set of three watches with highly stylized lugs ...

thank you share so much

German or Swiss?

The case is marked with a "crown in circle" and 14k gold fineness of "0,585" which were required by German law on cases made in or imported to that country. David Boettcher has a thorough write-up on his website vintagewatchstraps, stating the marks were ...

Russian zolotniks

"I don't know the significance of "56" above the gold fineness, perhaps someone interested in German watchmaking can help us out." LOL, I forgot our earlier discussion here; "56" zolotniks was the Russian standard for 14k gold, so this was another potent...

An ongoing auction , a vintage V&C with French case. The eagle is the mark of 18k gold, and the mark of the case maker is inside the rhombus. I see a Maltese cross, and the rest of the letters are not clear. I don’t know if the case maker used the Maltese...

here is another example

of the same French maker's mark, perhaps "D+T". The ebauche was exported without case, the Extracts I've seen for these French pieces do not identify the case makers (Verger was one of them but this is not their mark). Apparently this situation was motiva...
